I seriously think Air Langhi works for Comcast. He's been defending them in a few different quotes.

You should see the other thread in the Astros Hangout. A few more Comcast workers there too.

CSN Houston was unreasonable out of the gate. I agree. Some members of CSN H wanted to lower the Networks demands when it became obvious the rates wouldn't fly and the other took a hard line stance.

Tell me how if the poster had stayed with his provider how that things would have materially changed.

are you confusing Comcast and Comcast Sports Network? We now know based on a comment coming from the parties bidding on the Network in bankruptcy court that the current value of the content from the hard line member of CSN H drug the value of the Network down.

As improbable as it was under the circumstances, a mass customer move to Comcast because it had CSN H was the only way the major providers caved. Chastizing the poster for moving is pointless because it had no effect because no one else moved with him

Try getting both services and see how they work.

A lot of people (neighbors) in my area switch to AT&T completely and are complaining about how slow the internet speed is, but they like the tv part.

I kept comcrap internet and just switched to direct tv , but all of a sudden my comcrap internet connection has improved tremendously . No losing connection and the speed is better.

The direct tv televison is hands down better then comcrap. Better picture by far, and the programing is better.

I have comcast for internet(actually earthlink but it goes across comcast cable internet lines) and it is very fast in comparison to all others I have used. We had ATT dsl at work and it was slow, my sister and another friend of mine has uverse and it is slower than my cable.

Basically, whatever you think of comcast as a company(and for the most part I agree they suck) their cable internet is the best thing out there until fibre gets here.

and no, I do not work for comcast in any capacity, so dont even bring out that strawman.

and if you haven't reset your modem in recent weeks, you'll find that [if you do] speeds have once again been doubled.

Comcast sucks because if something goes wrong, which used to be a very common occurrence in my case, it is near impossible to get them to fix the problem. Their customer service is a major flaw, and could prove fatal once google fibre comes into town.

Red, just switch to Directv when you go to Austin. Get the NBA League pass, you can watch every Rocket game, and every other game in the NBA. Pricey, but worth it.

Yup. You need league pass in Austin to watch the Rockets (legally that is).

Just remember when they play the spurs the games will be blacked out and you'll have to switch to FSSW

I've had both, AT&T is vastly superior when it comes to the TV part of their service and their customer service (not saying much, pretty much anyone is vastly superior to Comcast's customer service) and Comcast has better internet. Simply not having to deal with Comcast people makes up for the slower internet IMO.

Thats the funny thing, I guess I have been very lucky. I have had earthlink since 99 and I havent had more than a half dozen issues with my internet during that entire time. (and one of those issues was during Ike)

I rarely have to deal with comcast customer support and the only problem I had when I did is their cursed computer phone routing software. Whoever's idea it was to have to speak to the computer instead of just selecting options should be shot in the face.

Comcast is pretty good. I have had it for 8 months and very few problems. Zero problems with my internet - it has never disconnected. A couple of problems with the cable but they were quick fixes.

The on air CSN product is also very good.

And yes, I DO NOT work for comcast.

I couldn't agree more. I've been completely surprised by how great the xfinity product is. great app driven product with intuitive interface and huge on demand library. I loved uverse and to this day, hate comcasts service, but xfinity has changed my opinion drastically because I never need service and the product is flat out better than uverse.

I had uverse internet here in SoCal. I wanted to shoot myself. Streaming most video online was not worth it. Youtube is definitely throttled no matter what they say. I had the highest package and I had to wait forever to have it buffer on Youtube.

Thank god I am on Cox internet now. I just can't do Uverse anymore. i don't know how Comcast is down there at the moment, but I would advise against Uverse internet all day long.

Once AT&T Gigapower hits Houston, it should be a no-brainer for anyone looking for a good TV and internet combo that has availability to get AT&T. Not sure when that will be though.

Im probably screwed then, our area is serviced by Verizon. Funny thing is, less than 5 miles away is my mother in laws place which is ATT.

Ill gladly jump to whoever installs the first gigabit(fibre) service in Baytown even tho I am a fan of the speed of comcasts cable internet.

I've been relatively pleased with Direct, tho I am still irritated that it goes down during heavy rain. That is one thing that I never had happen with time warner/comcast. (had time warner before comcast came here)

Yeah, I'm sure some of these other providers will be following suit once either AT&T or another ISP puts gigabit here. Hard to tell what will happen with Verizon in terms of Gigabit speeds, they really need to get FIOS here, but from what I've read they have stopped expanding.
