Everyone keeps asking plowman for updates. But I don't think anything changes until we know what happens with Bledsoe and the Suns. Rockets fans should hope the Suns cave and sign Bledsoe to a big deal which will allow them to move Dragic.
The same. McRoberts signed there because he believed Lebron was coming back to Cleveland (straight from Woj). A front court of McRoberts/Bosh might work on the offensive end, but it definitely won't on defense. I could easily see Miami trying to get out from under McRoberts contract in December.
I agree completely. But one thing I will say is that they had to at least honor the fact that Diaw could step out and hit shots with range. He didn't have to do it a lot, but just the fact that he could is enough to have a defender close out a little too fast...a little too out of control... That gives Diaw enough space/time to make a move which causes a domino effect of defenders helping.. Swing the ball and soon you're going to get the ball to a guy who will have an open bucket or is talented enough to make the finishing score. BUT, all of this overlooks the main problem with the Rockets. It's McHale. This team underachieved in the play-offs. We aren't going to get that kind of ball movement without a coach that instills these habits in his players. Some kind of half court offense. Not just this free flowing stuff they do all the time.
How open or unrushed the look may HELP how effective a shooter can be but it won't make a shooter effective. An effective shooter is one that has practiced the proper shot mechanics many hundreds of thousands of times until it is engrained in his muscle memory. If a guy doesn't have the proper mechanics honed by hours and hundreds of thousands of shots....it won't matter how wide open and unrushed the look is. He'll still be inefficient.
Meh. I look at the tools McHale had and can't really blame him. Basketball, more than the other two major sports, is determined by the amount of talent and skills you have on the court. McHale had to make some really tough decisions that Pop wasn't faced with. Do I start Asik and kill our spacing and Harden's effectiveness? Do I start TJones, who gives me some athleticism but can't shoot or defend? Do I start DMo, you can't stay out of foul trouble? Do I go small ball and risk getting Howard in foul trouble guarding Aldridge? There was no good answer for us. You can blame Morey for not getting us the right player, but he had to look at the bigger picture. The ball moved plenty fine when Harden was at OKC and in his first year here. It stuck a little more last year because we couldn't effectively play small ball (no Delfino) and we had to add a post game to the offense (Howard).
I agree but, you can't expect Mchale to be very successful with a different lineup every year. Morey is to blame in a lot of this as well. Another I really hope nobody was really that naive to believe we would win it all last season. It was Harden and Howard 1st season together, and Beverley/Jones 1st full season starting. We wasn't consistent with chemistry on offense and had poor chemistry on defense and defensive rebounding. I was really hoping Morey would have at least kept his core players intact. Now Mchale has to work with a different lineup all over again and try to find a key rotation that will help this team be successful. But yet some don't see that issue or chooses not to acknowledge that important factor. Basketballholic you want to win championships correct. Well my fellow Clutchfans blogger, that formula right there won't get us nowhere near a championship level/caliber team.
I just do not agree. A wide-open NBAer can shoot the rock, a pretty reasonable generality. As any MLBer can hit a flat fastball, another pretty reasonable generality. TJo's makes were pretty much to the basket or wide open J's. When guarded outside he was a clunker.
Just curious - - why not look to the salted lake and offer to take Novak for a 2nd (using whatever tradable chip remains to allow approval after whatever deal may be effected from the valley of the desert sun)?
