I think most people understand that volume is the key to a good farm system - the more the merrier and then you hope for the best. Cosart is a guy with a ton of red flags at a position of depth in the Astros' system. They traded him for guys at positions of need with high upside but more risk. It was a fairly low risk move overall because Cosart is as unlikely to be great as the various incoming prospects.

Bagwell went from 230lbs to about 165.

I just don't think Moran has the natural swing to produce home runs.

Cosart was scratched from his last start with the dreaded oblique strain.

What do we think of Marsinick so far?

He sure looks amazing defensively. It's early still but I don't remember enjoying watching anyone play the outfield as much as I have him so far. Similar to how I used to enjoy watching Everett at SS.

Is his defense good enough to warrant starting him even if he doesn't develop with the bat? I typically like to squeeze as much power into the lineup as possible so generally favor a guy like Springer in CF and guys with 20+ HR potential in the corners, but the ideal of some alignment of Marsinick/Fowler/Springer is appealing to me with the range and arms (in the case of Springer and Marsinick) and Fowler's OBP.

Also would you go with Fowler or Marsinick in LF? I think Fowler in LF would be optimal but maybe you don't do it due to sensitivity.

Marisnick looks really overmatched to me at the plate. Poor plate discipline and pitch recognition so far, last night he had a 2-0 count with a man on first and swung at a terrible low pitch grounding into a FC.

I expect him to be at OKC once Springer/Fowler/Presley return.

Wow, I haven't seen him play yet but I am looking forward to it. Should be able to watch this series since I am in Dallas. Sounds like he is legit defensively. If so, I think you have to see if he can get his feet wet at the plate to see if he can be a serviceable bat at all in the pro's. I am guessing the Stros feel the same way and will start him at the big league level for as long as possible. Can't see him being a 4th or 5th OF type at this point. It would be wise to send him to AAA if he is just too overmatched or squeezed out by Springer and/or Fowler's return.

Based on the small sample size, Marsinick reminds me of a right handed Jordan Schaefer. Fast, smooth, good arm, good defense. Struggles as a hitter.

My wife and I had drinks Rachel and Jeff in Aspen this past April. He's closer to 168 ;), and he just seems angry and paranoid. My wife knows Rachel which is why they invited us over. I was kinda uncomfortable watching him drink shot/beer/shot/beer/champagne at noon in a dark corner of a bar. His demons, they're still there, but he loves showing pictures of his dogs.

Marisnick only has 150 games above AA. I am waiting for the experience to come before putting him in Jordan Blazer zone.

More athletic Jayson Werth or Corey Hart, potentially maybe. Long swing now, but he's young and that can be improved hopefully. Springer and him in RF/CF, Fowler in LF could be the best defensive OF in MLB in several many years.

Porter plans on putting Fowler back in CF per tonight's broadcast.

Not sure why... its obvious that even when all players are healthy, Marisnick is the best CF of the three.

Yeah, I read that and I'm not sure I understand why either. Not that Fowler's bad by any stretch of the word, but he's the 3rd best CF on the team.

He never seemed like a guy someone would approach. Seems like a jerk but I could be wrong.

Horribly bad relationships, very close friends dying young, can't even play golf sometimes b/c of the shoulder. I talked to him for a while last year at Horseshoe Bay and he just seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else. I don't want to judge anyone I don't truly know but it was sad for me to see one of my quasi-heroes like that.
