I guess I'm missing something but I was under the impression that Bennett was hot garbage...

    So Hinkie will/have acquired:

The projected #1 pick in 2013 before his injury scared teams off
THE #1 pick in 2013 that has plenty of bust potential left in him
The projected #1 pick in 2014 before his injury scared teams off

    Talk about playing Russian Roulette.

If those three even turn into reliable starters (plus MCW actually getting better) then I think his bet was worth it. Unfortunately, all 4 of those players can't shoot for ****...

He lost weight and looked much better in summer league. However, his title of "#1 pick in the 2013 draft" still way overstates his value. He may end up being a serviceable rotation player in the future, maybe not.

The Cavs should pay half of Bennett's rookie salary because his summer league performance fooled the T-Wolves enough to take him as an asset in the Love trade.

I think he is just there for the salaries to work. They are trading love for Wiggins and a 1st which is a great deal for them.

IMO, this all smells bad. You can throw all the stats at me, but there's some intangibles people seem to overlook.

I don't think Irving is much of a "team player" in that he seems to always get caught up in drama with coaches and teammates. He's used to being the center of attention, and then LBJ makes his huge comeback and now the attention has shifted. He's young and needs time to mature. But don't make the mistake of anointing him a BIG yet, he plays in the East and won how many games last season? (rhetorical)

L-Bron will have a major injury soon. He plays tough, and every player in the league is looking to shut that guy down. Add his recent weight loss in the mix, he's more fragile than ever. The question I'm asking is, when will his luck run out?

Love is a solid dude with solid stats with a terrible team. But does anyone else feel this inkling of Love-sanity? Not questioning his legitimacy, but really asking if people will feel disappointed by his new numbers with this stacked team. I think his popularity will decline, and people will start seeing him as the raw end of the Wiggins deal?

My main reservation is too many chiefs, not enough indians. (No pun intended)

I'm having doubts about the long-term viability of Irving with Lebron myself. Kyrie is Jose Calderon bad defensively. He may actually be worse than Calderon. Just a complete nothing out there defensively. I have actually been wondering if the Eric Bledsoe-Rich Paul connection was going to work to get Bledsoe and other parts to Cleveland for Kyrie.

It'll be interesting to watch the dynamic develop between Kyrie and Lebron. But Cleveland's backcourt at this point leaves a lot to be desired defensively.

WHILE NEWS CAME out yesterday that Minnesota and Cleveland had agreed in principle to a trade that will send All-Star Kevin Love to the Cavaliers for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a first-round draft pick, the Daily News has learned that the Sixers will, indeed, be involved in the deal.

A source informed the Daily News that the Sixers will be sending veteran forward Thaddeus Young to Minnesota for a package that will include Bennett, the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA draft.

The deal, which two sources have confirmed to the Associated Press, will not be official until Aug. 23, when Wiggins, this year's No. 1 draft pick, becomes eligible to be traded.

It has been reported that Minnesota sees Young as the right guy to fill Love's shoes. The Timberwolves, it has been reported, could use the first-round pick they get from the Cavaliers to help entice the Sixers to part with the 26-year-old Young, but that has not been confirmed.

What if the Wolves trade Kevin Martin, Bennett, and the 1st Rounder for Thaddeus Young? I'd say that's a win for both teams.

I agree. I think Bennett is just a throw-in. Most people seem to have given up on the guy to be worth his draft position. Anyway, I still think he can be good if he has the right work ethic.

Also, why do people keep saying that the Timberwolves are a "terrible" team? They were just two games below .500 and could have been a 7th seed in the East. They were not good, but not terrible either. And considering the injuries they had, you can't really fault too much about "not making the playoffs" on Love.

That said, I don't think Love can carry a team to contention like LeBron and Durant can. But neither can a guy like Bosh or Curry or Griffin or *gasp* Harden. (Okay I am sounding like CH but don't flame me.) There are only about 3 or 4 guys who can. Playing with LeBron will make Love a lot more dangerous.

It's no contest. At least Wiggins has the potential to be a great player. Lamb and Adams will never be great. And trading Kevin Love only means Minnesota will continue to miss out on the playoffs. OKC traded away all of their championship hopes along with Harden.

Two years ago, OKC was the favorite to come out of the west before the Westbrook injury. Unclear if they could have beaten Miami that year, but they were more experienced than the previous year (just like Miami the year before after losing to Dallas).

Last year, OKC may have won a title if not for the Ibaka injury. They split 2-2 with SA after he was healthy, but that's also after falling behind and having a ton of pressure (or SA letting up) so who knows how the series would have played out from the start.

While they certainly made things more difficult, they didn't trade away all their championship hopes - they still are amongst the 3 or 4 most likely teams to win it all every year.
