Caught up on everything tonight. Last ep of Tokyo Ghoul was decent. Not really a huge fan of the "main character gets tricked into almost getting eaten" plot that was some straight up Looney Tunes sh-t, but the glimpses we are getting into what Kaneki is and who Rize was are intriguing. Zankyou no Terror continues to look beautiful and has a fast moving plot with interesting characters and a fascinating developing mystery (that is starting to become very reminiscent of V for Vendetta). The cat and mouse game between Nine, Twelve, and Shibasaki is great. There's an awesome L vs Light dynamic going on there. Really enjoyed SAO2's latest ep. Kiritio's characterization will be much more enjoyable now that he won't have random fangirls constantly fawning all over him like in the 1st season. It was fun learning the basics of Gun Gale and seeing that while Kirito's agility and sword skills transferred well, his shooting skills will need some serious work. I think I'm about ready to give up on Tokyo ESP. I just can't bring myself to care about any of the characters. Aldnoah.Zero continues to bring quality action and development, with interesting battles that are thankfully staying very strategy focused and showing the clear difference in power levels and abilities that the Terrans are up against. Only drawback is how bland Inaho is as a main character. Seriously starting to think dude is a robot. But man, the OST for this show is incredible (to be expected from the same guy behind Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill's awesome OSTs). Can't wait until it comes out on September 10th. So ready for Akame ga Kill tomorrow. The existence of the character that is Obito Uchia completely negates this as even a possibility. He is the embodiment of Kishimoto no longer having any f-cks to give.
I've thought Naruto was actually somewhat underrated over the years....but I can't even call the last arc bad because I have no clue what's going on anymore. I mean, seriously, Bleach might actually be doing better than Naruto these days, which is incredibly sad. Oh, and in relevant: UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS CONFIRMED OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/spseKv7jtmY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yeah, the last 20 or so chapters has been drawn out and ridiculous. It's like if you are going to end a series, show some dignity and not stretch chapters out by pulling unexpected plot points out of your butt Bleach is worse but I haven't really liked bleach since the aizen arc.
I stopped watching Naruto a long time ago and stopped reading the Manga during the great Ninja war. I tuned into the Anime to see what was going on and didn't really like what I saw. Naruto's new powers don't even look rooted in the same universe as the other ninjas. Have there been any other glowing ninjas?
Man, I had to fish this thread out from Page 6. We're slackin' here! How about HxH last week, Leorio with the epic punch on Ging! I lol'ed at the promotion for watching the full video at the Hunter website. And then this week, it looks like that actually got Leorio votes for Chairman! LOL. I am really enjoying SAO II so far and I almost didn't watch because of how bad I thought the 2nd part of Season 1 was.
Man, this thread is pretty dead for us being in the midst of what is quite possibly the best single season of anime I've ever seen. Summer 2014 stays kicking ass. Still loving Aldnoah Zero and Akame Ga Kill. SAO2 is starting to come on strong. Zankyou No Terror is probably intriguing me the most, while Tokyo Ghoul looks poised to take a turn for the epic. I'm even hearing good stuff about Space Dandy. (All in addition to Legend of Korra having possibly its best season to date) Though Hunter x Hunter isn't a seasonal show, I'm still counting it in this awesome run due to how much I'm enjoying the current arc. The Killua-Alluka vs Illumi-Hisoka dynamic is fascinating, as is the election, and Liorio's moment of AWESOME was both hilarious and cathartic. Ging's deadbeat ass needs to go see his damn kid. lol I did drop Tokyo ESP though. That show could never find a consistent tone or plot. At this point I'm wondering if one of these shows will have that one truly trans-formative moment. The one that starts the familiar phenomenon of taking the exact same catchy opening it always had and making it suddenly ten times more tragic or epic. Some examples would be the Chimera Ant Arc in Hunter X Hunter, Gurren Lagann after it reached a certain point, and hell, the entire 12 ep run of Madoka Magica (probably the best in this regard. What a trip that anime was.) Thing is, most of these shows have so thoroughly defined their themes and direction, I doubt they have any big unexpected twist in store (save for Hunter X Hunter, as always), but we'll see. On another note, the amount of hate within the anime-manga community inspired this week by the latest chapter of Naruto was just downright hilarious. I'm still reading literally just to see home many creative ways Kishimoto finds to troll his fan base. It's not often you see such a once-beloved property veer off the rails to such a degree at the end. Still, I do hope the announced series sequel movie, "The Last", does a lot to redeem it.
Anybody see the new DBZ movie in theaters? Wondering if it's any good and others thoughts on the movie
Man, i have been really slacking. Just NOW got to watch HxH and they cut off before hisoka gets to fight T-T
I don't remember a time I have followed so many shows at the same time. I'm still watching Zankyou No Terror but the show has lost some steam after the 3rd episode. Out of all those shows I'm enjoying Aldnoah.Zero the most. I dropped Space Dandy after the first season. Can you tell me how it has gotten better; is there a story line now? I'm actually waiting to get back into Naruto if they do another sequel series.. they really need to reboot the whole damn thing. I stopped reading the manga at the start of the Ninja War, what happened to make the fans turn on Naruto? I watched it, didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped. As a DBZ fan it is worth it to watch. It was fun seeing all the characters back again but, don't expect to much from the plot.
I honestly wouldn't know. Just hearing that second hand. Has me considering picking the series back up myself. Warning, if you stopped reading at the start of the war this contains some big reveals. Spoiler Well, last week Naruto said that he couldn't see Obito Uchia, the masked man responsible for the deaths of his parents, Konan, Neji, many jinchuriki, and the start of the whole damn ninja war, as anything but "awesome," because Obito made a last minute face turn and saved his life. So everyone was already pretty pissed. This week, Obito somehow came back from the dead on his own accord as a... well a chakra ghost, something never before established as even possible in the Narutoverse, and then gifted Kakashi two sharingans (the one Kakashi lost, plus Obito's own), and Kakashi immediately then went on to, out of f'ing nowhere, create a perfect susanoo armor, a technique that was established to take even the most powerful Uchias a lifetime to achieve. This really should now be known as the "ass pull" arc. On its own, it may not seem so bad, but it really a culmination of the disappointment of the last 15 or so chapters after Kaguya, the now main villain "Godess of Shinobi" who was barely ever mentioned before, was introduced. A lot of fans are just done with it.
I'm behind the curve but I've started watching Sword Art Online. I am liking it. Very similar to .hack
-Caugt up to Aldnoah zero. Love the strategy in this got me feeling like code geass. -Tokyo ghoul was epic too, kaneki needs to get his **** together and stop letting chicks fight his battles. -Ace of the diamond has been so fun these last 2 episodes i dont even know why i fell beenin the first place. Akame ga kill, baby steps, haikyuu!! All tomorrow.
I watched Aldnoah.Zero last night and thought it was really good. Though I am still a bit unclear if these Martians are folks who colonized the stars many thousands of years ago(ie like mythical Atlanteans or something) or if they just folks who went to Mars in the 1970's(using the hyper gate) and now think after 2 generations in space that they are some new race. Akame Ga Kill continues to hurt my feelings. Man what a bloody show. I've kinda fallen off watching Tokyo Ghoul after the first few episodes. SAO II has redeemed itself from the horrible 2nd half of season 1. The central mystery is pretty cool, the setting is good, and the new sniper character is interesting and not annoying. I have some friends who won't give SAO II a chance based on how bad the 1st season ended, I'm trying to convince them it's as good as it was early on.
I saw it and thoroughly enjoyed it. It consisted of a lot of comedy and a pretty epic fight. The voice acting was great and I felt this is perhaps a Segway to the new movie and perhaps a new series that will negate gt. Ppl of all ages were at city centre and some dude randomly yelled "it's over 9000". Pretty hilarious. I also heard the subtitled one doesn't do it justice as some jokes and phrases are lost in translation.
