Rockets defense was better with Motiejunas as backup C than Asik...

Expecting anything at all from Dorsey is setting yourself up for failure IMO.

Judging by your reaction in another thread, you seem to be already satisfied.

    According to 82games.com

    http://www.82games.com/1314/1314HOU2.HTM

Out of the top 20 five man units by minutes played together, Motiejunas played a grand total of 39 minutes the entire season at the 5. Plus, that 5-man unit gave up the highest PPP by far of any top 20 Rockets unit.

All other times he was on the floor he was at the 4 with Asik or Howard at the five.

I don't trust OPs stats. He provides no proof that his stats were actually backup 5 minutes. And he doesn't explain if the Asik numbers include when he played the 4 with Howard, or when he was starting due to Howard being out. Regardless, Motie only played backup 5 for 39 minutes the whole season. Not much of a sample size.

This shows Motie's times on the court, in his Top 20 players combinations.

    http://www.82games.com/1314/13HOU14.HTM

Is like less than 150 minutes total. And the two highest we very bad Defensive PPP stats.

Plus, we don't really know how much of that was garbage time, which are worthless stats to show at such small sample size.

Tell that to D. Morey Bobby, Morey did bring him back because he has a new attitude and played very good defense overseas.

I am not expecting anything, but am hopeful he is ready to contribute now, especially on defense and rebounding.

People that use stats are narrow minded. They are fools.

I'm not currently expecting anything from him, good or bad. I haven't seen him play in the last several years, so I'm taking a wait and see approach. Could be garbage, could be a serviceable backup.

Exactly Mr. KlutchQT. Hopefully he becomes a serviceable quality backup.

Watching Rockets games last year, Asik even when he played was not nearly the player he was 2 years ago. While I do believe trading Asik represent a huge downgrade in talent, whether to Dorsey or Asik. But I also believe the effect on our record will be minimal because Asik's production last year was a bit mediocre.

But as many have noted, the biggest issue here is what happens if Howard misses significant time. I think Dorsey can do well as a 10 minute backup, but not a 30 minute starter.

I didn't even notice Asik was there last year

I kinda just forgot about him after he was "hurt" for like the longest time

People tend to forget that Asik was injured (most likely) and horribly out of condition. A lot of times he simply looked fatigued out there. Healthy and conditioned Asik is a completely different story as a defender and rebounder. Then you have the fact that Asik generally played against much better competition than D-Mo.

D-Mo has his moments and is a lot quicker and more agile, but until he learns not to foul so much, gain a ton more muscles and weight, and develop a reliable jumper, he will never be more than a tall scrub. He puts out a lot of effort though, if not typically misdirected and therefore futile.

    Whoo hoo.

I bet NOP will feel like a bunch of fools when they find out
    about this :)

I really like DMo. I hope he gets much much more playing time this season.

Been saying for more than a year that Asik was redundant and that DMo was/should be the backup center.

stats may not tell the whole story but if I remember , DMo defended Dirk quite well

and Asik defended LMA quite well.

rebounding category is an over rated thing for me ... u could set under the rim and the ball 'd fall on u head , I think a stat showing offensive rebound is better to build some sort of conclusion
