So, we'll trade for an RFA and then watch him walk for no compensation next offseason when someone offers him more than we think he should be worth? I see you've attended the Morey School of Roster Management.

Too bad they can't keep the Team Canada core of Wiggins-Bennett-Thompson together.

Exactly my sentiments when I heard the trade is almost finalized.

I'm glad that he's not with the Warriors. I'm also happy that - of all the teams in the West- Wiggins ended up with the second most incompetent of them.

Correction: He just leveraged Cleveland's future by trading away two number one picks.

Does anyone know if the "firm" agreement the Cavs have with Love to resign for 5 years and a $120 million is actually enforceable? Also, how does that agreement differ from an under the table deal that I thought wasn't allowed per the CBA?

INB4 someone somehow uses that quote to disparage Harden.

true, true.. lebron is in a "win now" state of mind.. he doesn't want to wait for these young guns to evolve/mature, which could take minimum 2 to 3 years.. trade works well for both teams

The question is who were the Cavs bidding against that they needed to give up both Wiggins and Bennett plus a first rounder? If the Warriors weren't willing to trade Thompson, what is the second best offer that the Cavs needed to beat that required giving up so much?

It's an improvement on paper for Cleveland, but considering Love is leaving the T-wolves no matter what in a year, and he can decline to commit long term to any team he doesn't want to go to, I'd say Minnesota is getting over on the Cavs relative to how little leverage they should have. It seems like Waiters, Bennett and a future first rounder would still qualify as the best offer out there right now for Love from a team he would be willing to commit to. Or just Wiggins and some less desirable contracts. Unless they consider Bennett so bad that they want to get rid of him just to clear his salary? He had a bad year last year, but looked good in summer league. Seems a little premature to be looking to get rid of him as a bad contract.

How does a team that has been run so poorly over the past decade plus, get rewarded so much just because Lebron happened to grow up near by?

Any team that can possibly get Love and entice him with a 5 year deal after the season. The Rockets would happily trade for Love with no guarantee.

Love, Irving, Lebron with Dion, Thompson, Miller, and Varejao not to mention their 2 first rounders in next year's draft. Hopefully this will get Marion and Allen to come to Cleveland.

How are they going to go for a high pick if they have Rubio, Martin, Wiggins, Pekovic and either Bennett or Thad Young? That's just way too much talent. Just moving Rubio wouldn't get them into top 5 in the draft. They would have to move Rubio, Martin, Pekovic and forget about Thad Young, if they really want to tank, so that's probably not happening.

This is probably the only way for the Cavs to get Love, it's not like they have the cap room to sign him next year. The deal is basically Wiggins for Love, Bennet & the very late 1st rounder are marginal assets.

So give me some example deals that are better than just Wiggins and nothing else, or even some that just beat out Bennett, Waiters and a future #1 that were on the table?

It's hard to image what the Rockets could offer that would beat either of those offers, especially if Love declined to commit long term.
