Jones' numbers were exceptional for a player as young and inexperienced as he was. But people see "omg, can't guard Aldridge" and think he sucks.
That's a reasonable statement. It's possible Jones could become an average starter. This isn't what most would describe as "lots of potential".
Jones can't guard anybody. Sometimes he may as well not be out there on defense. This was evident before the playoffs last year. He didn't improve one bit from year 1 to year 2 on D.
Not really unusual for someone that age in that position, Davis can't really guard people yet, neither could Ibaka early on (and no blocks don't equal guarding), Ibaka carried that rap for a while. This is what happens when you put people with young bodies in a position defined by power and strength. Do we have time to wait? probably not, but man, people have such unrealistic demands on learning curves.

It's not a question of "if he can," but rather, "how many can he get?" He IS the best recruiter in all of basketball.
"Hey guys! they are giving out max deals in Dallas even if you suck, YOLO!!!! Come be my 1 and 2 star"
Chandler "Barely Legal" Parsons <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6Wf-mRo7C2I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

 he already peaked. Teams that find players like Parsons in the second round win. Teams that sign them to max contracts, don't. He flourished because teams had to worry about Harden and Howard. He won't do so well in Mav land.
I know I've fallen way off in the past several years on my BBall knowledge, but man Chandler was a Maverick last year?
