Ronnie Mitchell promoted to Lancaster for tonights ballgame, he has homered in both of his at bats so far.
Meanwhite McCullers.... Lancaster JetHawks Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Lance McCullers 4.0 9 7 7 2 2 3 5.42 yikes
I'd be tempted to rank AJ Reed higher than guys like Deshields in some of these top 10 lists. Golden Spikes Award, quick promotion, flashing lots of power and high walks already. He doesn't play a premium position but the bat alone puts him in my top 10.
Honestly, you are gonna have games like that from time to time pitching in that environment. Wish our legit arms didn't have to go there at all, but really no option but to send em there
Ha. This made me chuckle. Reminds me of the Simpson's quote "aim so low, no one will even care if you succeed". We can now call it... The Appel Approach. In all seriousness, I hope that he bounces back and moves up soon.
I really don't pay too much attention to hits and ERA in Lancaster, the numbers are just too skewed. The one thing about McCullers that does concern me is his walk rate. He had some control issues last year, but they were tolerable. This year he has walked 44 in 75 innings, and that is far too high, regardless of what league you are in. He is still striking out a lot of people, so I'm not panicking, but getting those walks down is obviously going to be a major factor in his development.
Anyone have a scouting report on Jamie Ritchie? He's our 13th round pick this year. Catcher out of Belmont University. I can't find anything on him. He's absolutely killing it at Tri-City.
Brady Rodgers' AAA debut vs. Colorado Springs: 6 IP, 2 H, BB, 4 K He was the winning pitcher in OKC's 8-1 romp.
Season debut? He started a game for OKC last season. The game was also significant for Preston Tucker hitting two HR's, Ronny Torreyes going 4-5 in the 3-hole and Jio Mier reaching base in 3/5 PA's.
What do y'all think about a comparison between Colin Moran & Two time all-star Matt Carpenter? I'd take that in a heartbeat. I'm big on Moran, seems like a guy that will hit everywhere he goes.
Maybe from a hitting perspective...but man I really would like to have a prototypical 3B at some point to give us 25+ home runs.
Even if Moran settles into 15-20 homers annually, I think the bat will play at the Major League level. I'm a little weary seeing all those sub-.240 averages in the lineup. Aren't you?
