He has declined, but I doubt if Indiana would have wanted Lin for 15 M even in an expiring year. DM and Les had to give up a lot, just in order to move him.
We could still s&t Garcia or Hamilton out to match salaries, Garcia about 1.5m (before BYC 50% kicks in) and Hamilton 2.1m
I'd do Gee, (Motiejunas or Jones), Hopson, Powell, Covington and maybe our 2017 first for West. Would NOT give the Pelicans pick up. That way we can save our TPE, the Pelicans pick for another big trade, like either Jones or Motiejunas, Capela, Johnson and Pelicans 1st for Dragic Dragic/Beverley Harden/Daniels Ariza West Howard Badass team just needs front court depth.
You think Harden is coming into the next season with a more focused, defensive minded approach and all of the other players on the roster won't follow suit? People are so quick to want to include Jones in ANY trade, regardless the talent coming back. I say no. I'd rather see a more focused & aggressive Terrence Jones this coming season.
JVG, Magic, and Zeke all think so. Hill and Hibbert's numbers will go up without Stephenson & PG. They'll be good "again" because of their new roles. The Pacers will still be a top seed in the EC.
I'm as big a Rockets homer as anybody, but anyone who thinks Luis Scola and Terrence Jones are as good as David West is crazy. David West would be an awesome fit for this team, assuming he still has some gas left in the tank.
Too expensive. For that kind of money Morey will want his third best player on a championship team and west is not it.
Unless we're getting Rondo, Bledsoe or Dragic, people need to kill this 3rd star dream (at least for this season). West is a fantastic addition and could stick around if we offer him a reasonable but generous contract. I'd even take him over Ilyasova
I think when you factor in intangibles like leadership and experience, he certainly could be the third best player on a championship team. Indy, without that Hibbert/Evan Turner collapse, certainly looked like a championship team with him as the third best player (Stephenson, Hibbert, West were kind of a toss up behind Paul George).
You would offload him to a 3rd team or add assets like we already did to the Lakers. And it cuts the Pacers from having West on the books the next season. You are definitely wrong about the TPE being more useful than the player because you can't combine it. You could do that same deal with Lin's salary and pick going to a third team, if necessary, and not just throw away players to match up to Indiana's salary. The contact gives you far, far more options. And in the meantime you have a guy who is a solid player, even if he isn't worth his salary, plus you still have the picks. The only one who is worse for wear in that situation is Les Alexander, and maybe Clutchfans. Not even debatable. The LOH is almost as bad as the LOF.
Yeah, even as a former advocate for having a big three, I've given up on it. I mean who can we get at this point? Melo and Lebron are all locked up, KD is a long shot, LMA is almost a lock to resign, and Love will probably be a Cav. We have a small window- why waste it stargazing?
