That Lousiville player came back in 8 months from a similar injury although given the caliber of player George is, they will probably play it conservatively and we won't see him again until October 2015. Random thought #1 -My question for Indy is how are they going to score now? They look like a team who is going to struggle to put up 80pts a game this year. Lance and PG were the only two guys on that roster who could get their own shots. Now, this seems like a lotto team. random thought #2 - I feel for Indy. They lost their star player in PG after they lost their star player in Granger before that. They make the right moves, just bad luck. Reminds me a bit of Houston's torturous Yao/Tmac era.
Since the bone broke the skin, the issue is that he has an increased risk for infection. This will be the biggest issue for him in the next 24-48 hours. They will likely take him to the OR and immediately clean out the bone and remove any muscle that may be torn/damaged.
I couldn't bring myself to even look at the injury. Reading through some of the posters description was already making me cringe. I hope he goes through a speedy recovery.
A horrific injury. I hope he can recover and return to play at a high level. Hell, I hope he recovers and can lead a normal life, much less play basketball in the NBA. I had the good fortune to meet Earl Campbell at his house in Westlake Hills many years ago, and he was limping around years after retiring from the NFL. From what I understand, he's worse today. Sure, different injuries, different sports, but at some level, just to be able to play with your kids or run on the beach can look like a small bit of heaven to someone recovering from a really bad injury. What a nightmare for Paul George and for the Pacers. Good luck, Paul, and may you have a speedy and complete recovery! As an aside, don't we have at least some kind of minimum standard regarding maturity?

How dumb would they look by trying to force nba players not to play for their country... The spurs have manu who is injured and they don't want him to play. But healthy players not playing because of injury? They might as well play flag basketball in the nba. I know, wtf is flag basketball, who knows.
It's like that anderson Silva injury It will probably take a year and they are gonna insert a titanium rod into his leg it's actually not as bad as the livingston one
seriously. neymar got injured in the world cup but you don't see Brazilians saying Brazil shouldn't send their best players because they could get injured. It really sucks what happened to Paul George and i hope he comes back just as strong but the US has to keep showing the world we're the best.
They just need to modify the rules on the equipment used and spacing behind the basket to be cleared for NBA quality players to keep playing.
This sucks so bad. My first thought... pull all the players. Screw the USA National Team. It was all about our United States ego, anyhow....mainly from fans But then I think...if I were an star, I'd risk it too. Hell, I could injure myself playing anywhere in summer. And Basketball Players need to play, in summer. This isn't football, where they can't actually really play. This is basketball. If I'm an NBA player, I'm playing full court somewhere. I could get that injury anywhere. I wouldn't turn down representing Team USA. sucks.
Exactly. This incident does indicate that change is needed, but it is overreacting to stop sending basketball playeres to international competition. The most obvious change is moving the stanchion back in international competitions to where the NBA puts it. The second one, a pet peeve of mine, is to MOVE THE GODDANG PHOTOGRAPHERS BACK just a couple of feet. Imagine the crapstorm if George's injury had been caused by one of the photographers.
I dunno, NBA is already world wide thanks to satellite tv. There's not much to gain in the Olympics from NBA stand point if the perception is the best basketball is still played in the NBA.
broke my leg the same way in a game. bones came out of skin and everything. They set a bar down my leg put some screws it it, was able to walk in a week ( though it was very difficult.) I understand Paul has will have some of the top surgeons working on him compared to me, but I was never the same. Could dunk at 6 ft no prob, now cant even touch the rim without significant pain. I hope he comes out just as good and have no lingering suffering.
