I think they would but to what point. The other providers have a year and a half worth of proof that they aren't losing enough customers by not carrying the channel to pay anything more than they want. I don't see them (DTV/ATT) bending over backwards to take even a smaller price unless it would have a substantial effect on them.

I get your want to keep the CSN-H product as is and would agree that it would be the dream to keep it and have full coverage. I've heard great things about the channel, but the reality is most of us would be happy to settle for the games. For me, and a lot of others, it will require carriage on dish or Direct. I don't have Comcast as an option and I don't have u-verse as an option. They aren't available where I live. The small cable company that services us, only runs one market in Texas and has no other interests south of Missouri. They aren't going to carry csn most likely for any price. And their service is so bad, I'm not sure I would switch to them even if they paid me.

I understand games are the most important part and I'm fortunate to have (and enjoy) Comcast (no problems for me). Dish has been awfully quiet. No telling if they'd finally buckle if the others did.

From what they have said publicly I would guess no. I have them currently but my contract is out. I am not unhappy with their service, but would have no problem switching to DTV to get the channel.

I have Dish too. I thought it was almost a given that once one of the big carriers gets coverage, the rest would quickly follow.

That's what I'm counting on, anyway.

CSN Houston’s lawyers ask judge to keep potential bidders secret

Posted on July 31, 2014 | By David Barron

With Comcast scheduled to learn details Thursday about a mystery bidder or bidders for the bankrupt parent company of Comcast SportsNet Houston, attorneys for the network asked a federal bankruptcy judge for an order requiring that the the bidder or bidders’ identities and prospective deal terms remain confidential.

Judge Marvin Isgur has set an Aug. 7 conference to provide updates in the Houston Regional Sports Network bankruptcy case, including a proposed bid to buy the company out of bankruptcy. Comcast said in early July it believed the bidder was involved in the television industry, leading to speculation it could be AT&T Home Solutions, which owns AT&T U-verse. DirecTV and Fox also have been cited as potential bidders.

Network attorneys said the prospective bidder wanted the four-member CSN Houston board, which includes two representatives from Comcast and one from each of the teams, to vote Thursday on whether to approve the sale, but there was no word on whether such a vote took palce. Thursday also was the deadline for attorneys to inform Comcast of the identity of the bidder or bidders.

Comcast, the Astros and Rockets said they would have no comment on Thursday’s developments, if any, so details of CSN Houston’s future may not become public knowledge until the Aug. 7 conference.

The proposed order sent Thursday to Isgur prevents Comcast from discussing information about the proposed sale with anyone except network attorneys and business consultants, the teams and prospective buyer or buyers.

I have watched the Mariners on Root for years. The coverage of the games is outstanding.

Your speaking of the games itself. The Root stations don't do newscasts devoted to the Mariners and other local sports which is what I enjoy about CSNH. Their Texans coverage blows the "official" station FSW out of the water. They are able to spend more time on stories than the entire 2 minute sportscasts the local affiliates provide.

AGAIN: I know the games are the MOST important issue. I'm talking about the perfect scenario.

I love the channel. The "Astros insider" show is the best behind the scenes sort of show I've seen since the beginning of NBA Inside stuff. Real cool features on the draft (although it turned into a dud since they spent so much of it talking about Aiken), and how they prepare MMP for the games.

It has been a while since I have seen the other programming on Root. In years past, their Inside the Mariners and Inside the Seahawks shows have been really good. Inside the Seahawks was hosted by none other than Warren Moon.

Most fans in Houston have been getting the "Root" for watching Sports for a couple of years now.

The reason they haven't had good ratings is because there is nobody carrying the network.

According to him the Astros have been a joke on and off the field during the entirety of Crane's ownership.

I liked the "on and off the field" part. You would think that we were scamming a city with a field they will never pay off or signing known steroid abusers or being the first team to go to the WS with no black players. Sorry... I just fail to see how we're a scandal ridden team.

Well yeah, pretty much. They didn't hire Reid Ryan because of their glowing success.

I would say there have been a lot of "off field" issues. Information that was leaked on the web. Games not being on most people's TVs. Salary of MLB team is very low which leads to bad on field play. They didn't sign the 1st and 5th round picks this year. Appelgate.

I think fans have a lot to be mad about. I don't blame Crane and his regime too much for what has happened with CSN-H as I put blame on McLane, Les, Comcast, and other providers. I don't put too much blame on Aiken falling his physical on Crane et al. I think they handled it poorly in media, but media also smells blood in the water.

I think overall the Astros are getting better and winning and getting on more TVs will cure a lot of the ills.

I just don't see their on field performance this year being a joke.
