Wallace's salary is 10.1 million, our TPE is 8.4 million, so we couldn't use the TPE on either Wallace or Rondo. It would be nearly impossible to then make a trade for both Rondo and Wallace. ( Rondo plus bass is much more doable, because Bass's salary is only 6.9 million and can be absorbed by the TPE)

It is possible, but entirely improbable to get both Rondo and Wallace. We could..

Trade our TPE and a pick for Prince.

Trade Prince, Gee, Jones, Hopson, Powell, Beverley, Canaan, Covington for Rondo and Wallace

I'v don't think i'v ever seen a trade with 9 players in it, it would be pretty insane. It would be much easier to just trade for Rondo and Bass(TPE). Plus Bass would be much better for us then Wallace, with him being cheaper, expiring, a quality PF who would fit next to Howard.

Yep, and too Rondo/Dragic would be better in that role than Parsons or Lin were.

Trade Jones, Beverley, Capela, Pelicans 2015 1st + NG contracts (Gee, Hopson, Powell) for Rondo and Bass(TPE). Then sign Marion and O'Neal with remaining MLE, and BAE.

    PG: Rondo, Canaan, Smith
    SG: Harden, Daniels, Johnson
    SF: Ariza, Marion, Covington
    PF: Bass, Motiejunas, Adrian
    C: Howard, O'Neal, Dorsey

Best part of that trade is if Rondo doesn't work out or gets injured, is that both Bass and Rondo are expiring, so we could just let them walk (or sign and trade them) and pursue other free agents.

Makes a lot of sense to me. Celtics fans likely disagree on the value but it's only a matter of time until Rondo demands a trade.

Rondo would be an excellent addition to the team no matter how you slice it.......

If we're going to trade for Rondo...then why not just go after Rubio instead. He's several years younger, if he earns a max contract it's not going to be nearly as high as Rondo because Rondo's max will be about $4-5 million per year higher. And you're basically talking about the same type of player. They both have very similar advanced analytics. If you could get Rubio for the package of assets that you could get Rondo for....and we actually want one of them....I'd say get Rubio.

They aren't the same player. Rondo is better at getting to the hoop and better defensively than Rubio. I don't care what the analytics say

Not a big fan of Rubio, either, but he makes a lot more sense to me than Rondo at this point in their careers.

Exactly, even if he doesn't ask for a trade, he's still expiring, and unless they throw a ridiculous contract at him (5 year full max) or something, I see no reason why he'd return to the C's. Plus, why would the Celtics even want him on a long term expensive contract? They're rebuilding, Smart, Bradley, Sullinger and Olynyk and coach Stevens is their new core and they should focus on them. So IMO, Rondo is as good as gone, and likely soon, so the Celtics can get the most in return and make room for Smart and Bradley for next season.

I bet Morey is waiting to see if he can snag Dragic or maybe even Bledsoe before he turns to Rondo and try's to make a deal.

Isn't Rubio's max at the same level as Harden's? If you are shelling out that much to the PG position, then that player needs to be able to alleviate scoring burden off Howard and Harden (biggest thing missing from this team as Parsons could be the leading scorer every once in awhile).

For any deal that adds a third potential star or at the very least makes the Rockets a much deeper team, that player has to have the ability to take over games when needed. Rondo has a history of carrying a team on his back (2012 Eastern Conference Playoffs) whereas Rubio hasn't shown that ability yet.

Why downgrade from Beverley to Rubio?

Why not get Rubio? Because of the reasons you listed, he's younger and cheaper. Minnesota loves Rubio, he's young, he's cheap, and he is their PG of the future. Even if they loose Love, they're going to want to keep Rubio, they have made it very clear that they are not looking to rebuild, that they still want to win now with Rubio, Pekovic and who ever Love nets them. And even if they choose to tank and explode the team, he's young enough to have a complete rebuild with them. I just see no reason why they'd be interested in trading him. Rondo on the other hand is in the complete opposite position with the Celtics, I see no reason why they would keep him.

That's the question there. Same with any top level player: Is the guy even available?

People always go "I'd rather have Player X than Player Y" here but the truth is that most of the time the Rockets doesn't really get to choose. They'd feel lucky just getting one of them.

    Two problems:

    1) Can't shoot (Rondo can, despite what the media seems to think)

    2) Can't score near the basket (like....at all)

He can certainly get better at these things, but will we have to wait 3 years for him to develop?

I like him as a player. Decent defender, and he makes other players look really good. He's not a max player at this point, no matter how much Fegan cries.

I'd have a really tough time giving up Beverley in that deal.

I really hope he stays a Rocket.

Why? Beverley is a bad ass, I know, I love him too, but understand that he is barely even a starter caliber player and is nothing special on the court. Beverley's intensity and physicality is what makes us love him so, understand that with Rondo we wouldn't be loosing ANY of that, we'd just be gaining elite passing, decision making, defense and rebounding at the point guard position along with the intensity and physicality.

Are you asking if the salaries and trades work? Yes they do. If your asking if we go over the luxury tax line? Yes we also would.
