Seems my mac harddrive is dead. I need to get to a repair tech to see if I can save data on there at the very least, but I can't seem to find a local mac repair shop. I'm looking for something near Eldridge and Westheimer off of I10 if possible. I talked to the Mac store and they said I needed a repair tech.
Have you tried using a program like spinrite? Maybe getting the HD functional enough to transfer the Data?
You could try using another mac to boot yours via firewire as a target disk, see if it is accessible, in order to transfer your files to a backup if they aren't backed up. Also, I highly recommend DiskWarrior for disk repair. I believe the creator (Allsoft?) is a Houstonian too. Very responsive, and a great program.
You can try a computer shop/Data Recovery place called Data Doctors. They're located on W. Holcombe and Buffalo Speedway.
