You can take as many steps as you want as long as you are still dribbling. Although, you might be able to call a carry on that.
Why are some of these guys playing in a t-shirt? Has it always been their preference, but can't/won't wear one because the NBA has a different culture?
As long as he gets along fairly well with the players on team USA, some of them might agree to play with him down the line. A lot will of course depend on his overall performance in Houston this season.
I'm not sure if these guys would wear a shirt under their jerseys if they could in a real game, but you often see NBA players with many articles of clothing during practice. Dirk usually practices with sweats pants tucked into his socks and long sleeves.

Harden hitting KD with dat stepback -- <iframe class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/MEntDPv1IrJ/embed/simple" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe><script async src="//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Harden's step-back J doesn't create much space for him but he's got really good rhythm and confidence making those
Good to know where the ball is. Just glad he is taking the initiative and dropping back to guard his man.
I will say this. Usually that move is not being guarded by a 6'11 freak of nature in KD. Harden is a big guy and he looks really small compared to Durant. His step back gives him great separation just doesn't look that way against KD. That's a hard shot to make period tho it takes good body movement and even better footwork. I know he makes it look easy but man that really is a very hard move to do. I think we take for granted how special he really is on offense.
