How many national pundits mentioned Harden being traded to Houston? Dragic for AB. There are many examples of it being super quiet before a trade went down. Scola for V Span is another one.
Not sure how intelligent you will find it, but my take is that we should/will wait.. We aren't really in the drivers seat on this one Other than maybe Rondo (who I don't think is moreys first choice) we don't really have a lot of leverage/options. PHX will be waiting until the Bledsoe thing is figured out, we could offer him a max contract, but PHX will just match, and they wont even look at moving Dragic until Bledsoe is dealt with. We have fallen pretty far in the Love sweepstakes with CLE pretty much taking it, but Minny is probably just toying with everyone and plans on waiting til the trade deadline to see how their season is going. I like where we are at and I think we will just see how this start goes and then maybe make a move with PHX or fall back on Rondo after the season starts which is how I would play it. IMO
Part of the biggest reason for constant crud/hateful back and forth garbage being posted on the forum is primarily because people surprisingly have lost all hope for the Rockets. We have arguably the best center in the game today, and top 5 scoring guard in this league on our team. However, so many on this board has viewed this offseason as a failure, without giving time to those that are designated at making the team better. Just a reminder to all...I would rather my Rockets play in June instead of looking like a title contender in July. Paper champions never win. Give time for Morey, and the front office to work their magic. And given Morey's track record, he has yet to have a losing NBA season. I dont see this upcoming one shaping up to be that way either. Finally in regards to our insiders...as folks get jobs as agents, agent reps, scouts, team employees etc...Some are able to attain accurate information...while others wont. Immature and/or arrogant self entitled posters wont understand this, and will continue to pollute this thread and discourage seasoned posters from posting on our BBS.
So...hypthetical "what if". What if Minny waits until the trade deadline and what if we acquire Dragic for some of our youngsters without giving up the Pels pick? And what if we work out a deal to acquire Thad Young from Philly for expirings/non-guaranteeds plsu a prospect or two plus a future first? Then at the deadline what if we could offer MIN Goran, Ariza, Thad Young, plus the Pels pick for Love and take back Martin and whatever other junk they want to move?? Does Wiggins and trash beat that deal???
Once certain contracts on Cleveland's roster are eligible for the trade, Kevin Love will be theirs. I'm betting it's the holdup. Minnesota won't wait until the trade deadline. Come on, now. Love will not be on the Rockets. Move on, please.
I like that what if. I think that it depends on 2 things: 1. If they have waited til the deadline and the season has started up, how is Minny doing? could they make a run for anything by adding multiple seasoned vets? or are they tanking and want the young wiggins to start again next season? 2. Is wiggins taking NBA by storm or is he a flop (my prediction is that wiggins looks amazing, but that it will be heavily because of Lebron and I doubt he would do as well in Minny but I doubt they see that) and how are we doing with goran and company? I would say, if all that hypothetical worked out, our offer would be better and probably more appealing although minny hasn't been very logical so far. and I would probably do that trade, but how would we fill out? I think it would be easier to get another worthy PG than find another great PF, but losing our SF and gaining another SG doesn't really help, especially since we don't really have a back up for ariza yet anyway so that would be my only hinderance.
I don't think Minny waits because their leverage drops big time as do the number of suitors. By that time, teams will want some assurance Love will re-sign with them. Morey seems to be the only big gambler who has a contending roster right now. Flip can't count on the Rockets making the moves you mentioned to acquire Love. Also, young cheap players with potential (if on the table) like Bennett and Wiggins is better than veterans expecting big pay days. Plus, Flip isn't likely to be coaching beyond this season. He either needs to set up the next coach by moving Love now for the best deal he can get or go for broke and try to acquire veterans while keeping Love to make a Blazers like run in an attempt to convince Love to stay.
he said hypothetical what if.... absolutely quiet right now in the free agency, doesn't hurt to have some playful speculation. and I heard (probably from clutchfans so might not be very real) that LeBron liked wiggins and wanted to bring him up so maybe they really don't want to trade wiggins...
We don't have jack to trade for any player better than a MLE. Talent is thin in the NBA. Many teams will easily beat anything the Rockets can offer. We need to look at contract friendly talent to fill in the 4 and bench.
People always post this and never accompany it with specifics. I'm not saying that those players aren't out there, but who are they?
Most of the "Lin Crazies" have left. I think it's time to stop taking shots at them unnecessarily, move on, and recognize that we've got a lot of crazies still left in the GARM. That's the nature of a fan forum.
True, but how many of those teams have a HoF caliber Center? .... Splitter? Lopez? Jordan? Chandler? Perkins? Gasol? Yes, Jones needs to improve or we need to find another player for PF. But we do have an advantage at C over every single one of those teams that you mentioned which will at least help
You would be wrong. A similar pick was what netted us Harden. This pick is not nearly enough to get us someone like Love, but very valuable (and it doesn't get worse if the Rockets get better as a result of a trade, and it might get even better if the new lottery proposal passes).
