I believe Bima said we would do 2 simultaneous trades. Gogi into the trade exception, then jones or whoever else goes would be absorbed into the suns cap space.
Thanks. Not sure, just know that if we are bringing in a four in connection with the deal for Dragic (or said badass PG)...then the Pellies pick + will be gone.
The question isn't what can the Rockets offer for Dragic but what does Phoenix need to be a playoff team? Point guard? Once they re-sign Bledsoe they should be steady with him and Thomas Shooting guard? Here lies the biggest question mark on the team Small forward? PJ Tucker looks like a good player for them as of now but is he the answer? Power forward? They got the Morris Twins platooning this position Center? Alex Len and Miles Plumlee are here for the time being So what could the Suns use, short-term? Probably an upgrade at shooting guard. They really need a 3 point shooter since Channing Frye is gone and you don't know which Gerald Green you're going to get next season. It doesn't even have to be a superstar. Kevin Martin? Kyle Korver? Eric Gordon? Gordon's too expensive and injury prone though the Suns had a lovefest for him before. Korver would be a perfect fit but ATL is probably not budging. Martin can score and is on a relatively cheap contract. I think pulling off a 3-way trade where we absorb Dragic's contract with the Lin excepting and Martin going to Phoenix (along with our 1st rounder from the Pelicans) could be a start. Of course, I'm not fluent in trade exception language but I think bringing Dragic back can be done. Hell it's more realistic than trading for Love or Rondo at this point.
The homer in me wants to believe this is Tjones, DMo, Gee's non-guaranteed, plus filler for Millsap + heavily protected future 1st. Heavily protected future 1st from ATL + 1st from Pelicans + Trade Exception for Dragic. Howard Millsap Ariza Harden Dragic one can only dream.
I would be shocked if PHX looks at Plumlee/Twins as their long-term answers at the PF & C position. Plumlee is too small to be a starter, and the Twins would be a fantastic 1-2 punch off the bench for the Forward positions, but starters? I'd think they'd look to upgrade either Forward position or the Center position. We know they were at least a little interested in Hibbert based on the rumors that were floating around (just not at the price of Dragic). I expect they'd also be interested in Thaddeus Young for a number of reasons.
I am aware of that site, thanks. I'm guessing it'll be 2 seperate deals since that's the only way. I just don't get the point of not allowing the TPE to be included with any assets given that there's a loophole to it anyway.
Yes, so a trade like Jones, Capela, Pelicans first for Dragic (absorbed by TPE) and Shavlik Randolph Would work correct? A trade like that would be fantastic in multiple fashions. We'd be able to acquire Dragic, and get a cheap expiring player. We could then package the following players Gee Motiejunas Hopson Powell Shalvik Covington Canaan Johnson And shop them for more upgrades to the roster before the season starts, whether it be a starting PF, or a backup SF, or Center or all of the above. Getr dun morie. Dragic/Beverley/Smith Harden/Daniels Ariza Adrian Howard/Dorsey
And I agree but those guys were a win away from the playoffs last year. I'm sure Sarver wouldn't mind just eeking into the playoffs and not having to pay $$$$ for the team. I thought about Young too but if they're going to give up Dragic, why bring back another power forward to platoon with the Morris twins? I think it's either a shooting guard or a center.
The question isn't at all what the suns need to be a playoff team. Best case scenario is they get a gold star for making the playoffs and get destroyed by the spurs okc or clips. The real question is, how can we become a contender. As hard as it is to admit, the suns only hope is to acquire a star in trades or the draft. They will never get one in free agency. I love dragic's game and think he's a great fit, but he's a third option at best on a title contender. I think the same of bledsoe, although he MIGHT one day become a second option. If they want to commit to bledsoe they have to trade dragic, and their gm knows this. The pelicans pick can be huge for them, because they are about to lose the twolves pick once the love trade goes through.
Since you seem pretty well-versed with the CBA rules, why not simply explain to us rather than trying to make others look ignorant when they're asking a simple question. I actually am aware of the rules regarding TPE's.. I was just trying to bait plowman for more info and details on the trade package, to be perfectly honest.
The point of that rule is to make it impossible to absorb a player whose salary is higher than the TPE + 100k by "packaging" the TPE with additional players to increase the allowed returning salary.
