Bottom line results are important. Championships are hard to win in the NBA though. But still have to make a deep playoff run or two at some point.

Well duh? Obv rings are important that's the name of the game. But if you look at the timeline Harden and Howard only got assembled last year, don't you think it is unreasonable to expect a deep playoff run and a ring in year 1?

So in other words are you saying the Rox should never take a risk and make moves that will better the team? The master plan might have failed but all the team really lost is Chandler freaking Parsons.

Is your vision for a championship team sorely dependent on Chandler Parsons that losing him that it automatically invalidates all the progress the team has made so far? I hope not.

P.S. Dwight Howard was obtained via the exact same clear the cap and recruit route, I don't see you complaining about him signing with the team. Was the vision lacking when we amnestied Scola to make room for Howard?

No, it's not unreasonable to expect a deep playoff run in year one... And it's definitely not unreasonable to expect a 54 win team to get out of the 1st round of the playoffs. The Rockets accomplished no more than what they did the year before they got Howard besides winning a higher seed position for the playoffs.

If we don't make the WCF this season are you going to say, "Duh, can't expect that in year two."

What makes you think adding Christina Bosh was the answer...???

The team won 54 games, you say it like that's not an acoomplishment but then talk about how team failed to make a deep playoff run. But who do you think created that 54 win team in the first place? Before the series majority of people had the Rox over Portland, nobody predicted Harden would have the worst playoff performance of his career and Parsons would follow suit.

In your other post you talk about how Bosh isn't the answer either, but then you're saying WCF in year 2 is already 1 year too late. I mean it's fine to expect championship after championship but before you complain pls tell me what the Rox could've done instead? Looking at you post you act like any nimrod can have a team with Lebron, Durant, Dwight, Love and Chris Paul.

I guess what I'm trying to say to you Remii plus the rest of the debbiedowner peanut gallery here is that Morey at the end of the day is only human, he doesn't have a trade override button that will force OKC to give him Durant for Royce White. What he did do is say hey, I have cap space, I have Dwight, I have Harden AND I have Chandler Parsons+a solid supporting cast so some play in Houston. For a myriad of reasons Melo, Bosh, LBJ and Love all decided on other options.

I guess most of y'all come from the Lakers, Celts or some other franchise that takes winning for granted, but before YaoMac I was a fan of the Blazers w/Sabonis and Kg with the wolves. I know what a bad GM is like, and Morey and his staff are pretty far from inept. If you want to live in dreamland where your team wins a ring every year or else the GM sucks then that's your choice. Just don't expect me to drink whatever kool aid you're on.

BTW you realize it doesn't matter how much you complain right? The Rox not only won 54 games last year, they were also the 4rth most profitable franchise. Even better, DM paid 5M per year for Asik and Lin, 900k for Parsons and then let other teams foot the bill. You tsk tsk all you want but at the end of day DM is his crew both had a winning season and made their owner gobs of money. They're staying, so if you really can't take not winning a ring every year and think a magical GM makes you an instant Dynasty then I suggest you follow another team.

So what would have been your choice? What would you have done differently?

Took Morey 2 years to build a team that took the eventual champion to 7 games in the 2nd round despite losing his best player mid-season and 2nd best player halfway through the playoffs.

If T-Mac and Yao stayed healthy. Our 2009 team would've been Yao, Scola, Battier, T-Mac, Lowry, Brooks, Artest or Ariza, Landry, and Hayes. That team would've been top-3 team in the NBA easily.

When you get kicked out of the playoffs in the 1st round when having home court advantage _ that pretty much flushes the regular season...

The Rockets should have IMO kept Parsons on his rookie contract and tried to work with him like OKC did with Harden (trade him if necessary) / sign Spencer Hawes / sign Isaiah Thomas (Bledsoe's price tag is too high) / and draft Early in the 2nd round (Parsons replacement) instead of Johnson.

Hawes and Isaiah would have had more of an impact on this team than Bosh. And that would still leave Morey with players _ oops, I mean assets if he wanted to make a trade.

You're a team hopper. The Rockets are all I've ever known.

I suggest you work on sticking with one team instead of breaking your legs jumping from one bandwagon to the next before you instruct another fan on what they should do.

If Morey fails to take the team further forward on his current contract he'll get replaced at the end of it. It's not (excuse the pun) rocket science, but it's also not exactly a job that can be judged by the knee jerk.

I'd keep him around to see if he can land Durant within the next 2 years. That's our last hope, and I assume that's the current goal. Seems pretty obvious to me.

The point is that you don't win championships always losing in the 1st round and always making it to 4th or 5th seed if at all.

You slowly build a team that can consecutively make it to the 3rd round.

3rd round should be the goal and from there you probably need just one or two good players to make it to the Finals.

In the Finals a lot more is possible.

The thing with Morey and Alexander all they want is the championship.
They want to shortcut their way to success but the Basketball gods won't let them.

Let Morey handle the business with tanking and getting success from the bottom, screw all this winning records when in 8th or 9th place.

Getting all the "real" Top 5 picks of the draft, draft good players to be that 3rd star.

Then you go out and get two Allstars.

This scenario might not be all so different but by doing so you have good chemistry with the talented players that you do not trade away the second instant.

It's like giving them time to adjust to the NBA without losing much time in the D-league.
Using the NBA as the Dleague to develop talents that can actually be stars instead of mediocre role players.

Have patience and the best case you get two Allstar reserves and all you need is one chess piece to the puzzle.

Then surround yourself with veterans, Joey Dorseys and Adriens of the world.
Morey is just doing the steps in a confusing order.
That way players are complaining more, chemistry is getting out of hand.
It actually takes longer to win a championship, heck even longer to go the WC Finals.

And injuries can always derail those hopes.

It's because Morey is the forefront of an entire new and unconventional way of looking at and managing basketball players. It's more about the ideas then the actual product.

Results remain the same however. You got to have a perennial 2nd or 3rd round playoff team every year.

Y'all remember Melo at Denver? They were a pretty neat team year in and year out with George Karl. (Conference Final)

Ok it is clear, you would have settled for mediocraty, instead of taking the chance on greatness. This is the difference between what you want and what the people that do like Morey want, we want a championship, not losing in the first or second round.

And seriously Hawes and Thomas? that is your solution to make us better? Both cannot defend at all, and You cannot play Hawes next to Dwight. So basically you get a expensive backup center for 15 minutes a night (just like Asik), if ofcourse he would want to come here and not go to the clippers anyway. And why would you want Thomas? I expect you want him to come of the bench and be a scoring punch?

Nobody argues that losing Parsons for nothing was bad, we are just saying that it was a risk worth taking, If Bosh did sign with us, and we would ahve matched Parsons we would have had a top 3 team for the next 5 years. When you want to achieve greatness you have to take a risks, and sometimes they work out and sometimes they do not.

I think if we change the coaching, our team with Howard, Harden and Co. can get out of the 1st round.

We need to be lucky to find the right defensive coach. I'm okay with giving Chris Finch more responsibilities on the offensive side.
