And I think Harden is a better player than Westbrook. Westbrook got their first but Harden is a better player with more skill. And I like Westbrook. But Harden is better. Not then but he is now

So Ray Allen, Manu Ginobili, and Chris Bosh aren't or weren't cornerstones?

The extra "just" makes him look like an a-hole.

    Was that the intent?

The whole "you are either a star or a role player" is way too simplistic. There are so many good players that are not the best or second best guy on their team. You could easily make a contender by picking these guys who are just "role players".

1st of all Parsons could have managed his situation in a more proffessional way. To me that shot was directed straight to Parsons. Harden put that bullet right in his brain and some one had to do it. Yeah, it came out a little bit wrong but I'm sure our players know who that was meant for.

Also, OP trying to trick us with that title SMH for what? What's the purpose?

It´s funny, people say he is factual when saying he is a cornstone and others are role players, and precede to say that he only has to play average defense.

You see usually you demand more for franchise cornstones, you don´t say "he has the tools to be a good defender" and then say "he only needs to be average". Average are the role players, franchise guys can´t be average on one side of the court. There are still a lot of people on this site that think Harden is the best player on the team, that tells you how protected this guy is. That is why I am not even bothered by CH critiquing him very accurately, and then defending the same type of player in Love.

Those are 3 Hall of Fame players who took lesser roles for the good of the team. They all have been or could have been the best player on a playoff team. To call them role players is a joke.

Dirk has never been a good defender. Durant has never been a good defender. Charles Barkley was never a good defender. Melo has never been a good defender.Love has never been a good defender.Lamarcus Aldridge has never been a.good defender. So yes you can be a cornerstone player with average defense.

Nice point, only one of those great players won a ring, that tells you a lot about, just "needing to be average" on one side of the ball.

Harden is now surrounded by lockdown defenders in Bev and Ariza. He does not need great defense as he will be guarding the worst perimeter player on the opposing team. Average will suffice.

His comments could inspire others to step up as "super role players" or potentially a third star. They'll want a piece of that cornerstone real estate.

The others could just be inspired to step up and sign on to be a cornerstone for the Dallas Mavericks.

I believe that the players that Morey is getting will play some tough D and we will see the difference from the start of the season. This team will be tougher guarantee.
