Idk why Ray Allen would want to come to Houston... to retire? Would be awesome, but don't we have TD?
i guess the thinking is we can never have too many shooters around Dwight Howard, and as ancient as he is, Ray Allen is one of the greatest shooters in NBA history and is still effective in limited minutes.
There aren't many examples of guys voluntarily playing for the league minimum when they have other options. Remember, the Cavs already spent their $2.7 million BAE on Mike Miller (who, perhaps not coincidentally, plays the same position and role as Allen). It's not impossible, but as justtxyank and others have outlined, guys tend not to play for the minimum when they have substantially better options.
You have unproven rookie troy daniles... and you have arguably the best 3 point shoter in NBA history... not much of a debate there.
He'd take a minimum deal with the Clippers or Cavaliers, maybe even retire, before he takes a deal with the Rockets. That's just the way things have gone for us.
Ray allens 3point percentage has not drastically declined as he's gotten older. Not to mention he's one of the most clutch shooters to go along with that. You would have to be mentally ill to choose TD over ray allen. TD can shoot no doubt, but he hasn't proven anything to the point to where we should trust him to be consistent.
More important than his on court ability, I need ray Allen for his locker-room presence and to add legitimacy to Morey. Adding someone like him will go a long way to quell the stupid assertion that Morey doesn't give a $hit about his players. Same goes for the Matrix, but we actually need his talents much more.
I still take Troy Daniels based off I don't want Ray Allen (especially if the guy wants a 2 year deal and has to get his knees checked out?)... I'll pass. Now if Ray A. is adamant on coming to Houston.. make it happen. Otherwise I don't see Morey going head over heals to get Ray Allen... Guy won't help/hurt our season either way.. It's on Harden/Howard... Just me...
