Do you honestly see any of our current minor league pitchers turning into a Wainwright/Lynn/Kelley/Miller?

If Appel can even turn out to be on the level of Shelby Miller I think we'd be pretty content at this point

Can you point out an example where someone did this?

I am pretty sure Granville did this once. No wait, I think he was referring to Crane and he might have been saying it sarcastically. Very difficult to tell sometimes without nonverbal clues.

He strikes out 28.2% of batters he faces while being younger than the vast majority of players he faces. I think he becomes Brad Lidge 2.0, if nothing else.

I don't see a Wainwright, but he was also acquired from the Braves. I can see the rest happening.

    Nick Tropeano
    Kyle Smith

Lynn & Kelly weren't high end prospects, just good ones that got it done at every level. Amazing thing is, Kelly has a career ERA nearly a full run below his FIP and Lynn has an ERA+ of only 102 (His FIP is a solid 3.33 though).

Vince Velasquez is probably a few steps closer to returning to action; he allowed a hit, walked 1, and struck out 10 in 4 innings in his 3rd rehab appearance.

    So........................................

you're complaining about the Carlos Correa pick because he broke his leg? Or is it because everyone's slobbering over Buxton's knob?

You don't share the sentiment that there are other prospects in the Astros system worth talking about besides Mark Appel?

Lol this is all I need to know about you and your attitude towards the org.

I don't post on here often. I use this as a way to keep up with the farm system. A farm system, I might add, that is deeper than almost any other system in baseball. I'd just like to say that, quite frankly, I am sick and tired of all this sudden negativity toward the Astros because of the Appel and Aiken/Nix/Marshall situations. Do I wish these situations would have turned out differently? Ya, I do. I wish Appel was proving his worth of the number one pick by quickly advancing through the system much like Kris Bryant has. Sure I wish that we had been able to sign Aiken, Nix and Marshall. And yes I'm not happy with where the Astros currently are with their on-field performance. And while I'm just a college kid who hasn't experienced all of the Houston sports heartbreaks first hand like many have, I definitely do understand the frustration with their current performance. Does Houston deserve better? Absolutely we do. We're a city that is proud of who we are and proud of our sports teams. But I don't think that means we should be so negative about our Astros. Why? Because there is so much to look forward to with this team. Whether it is the current infusion of young talent in the majors (mainly Kike, Springer and Singleton) or the promising farm system. Many people are quick to forget that there are quality prospects in our system other than Correa, Appel, Folty, etc. Guys like Tucker, Reed, Gregor, Hader, Smith, Velasquez, McCullers and many others give us depth that not many other teams have. Sure Luhnow and Co. haven't exactly done anything to fix our Stros in a short amount of time, but they are well on their way to giving us a quality, long-lasting and winning franchise. It might just be me, but I think it's about time to cut out all the recent fairweather negativity and start being more positive about our Astros future.

In no way am I saying that all Astros fans are fairweather fans. And I'm sure you're no fairweather fan. I'm simply saying that while all fans have a right to be upset, I'd like to see less of the extreme negativity about the Astros future that has surfaced recently. I feel like it's better to look at the positives at this point. Maybe that's just me though.

5 Good innings by McHugh tonight in OKC on his rehab. Really need him and/or Keuchel to show something in the second half

Please show me an example where a baseball team can make a trade for a free agent compensation pick and then you can make more of a "It's all the same" argument.

I don't see it as very extreme. Let's take account of what's happened here. Franchise gutted, switched leagues after 50 years building a national league brand, a new owner who comes off like a jackass whenever he speaks, two years without being able to watch the team on television because of a money grab that blew up in their faces with no end in sight, a series of well publicized salary/roster disputes, and oh by the way three straight years of being the worst team in baseball. That's just factual.

And that's all very fair. It upsets me as well. I was just stating an opinion. Didn't mean to offend anyone

I understand. I just don't think it's extreme. This is the worst four or five year run of baseball here that I can ever remember and I've been a fan since the early 80's. I enjoyed watching crappy teams with Nolan Ryan and Jose Cruz much more than following this disaster.
