This why the Xbox One will just keep getting better. Monthly updates that add features.

I really want to jump in and buy an Xbox One. But that price pint has to drop $150-200. There's no way that I can personally justify spending $500 on a video game for myself then actually enjoy it without serious buyers remorse.

This coming from the guy that just spent over $400 on a few pair of Sperry shoes and Stance socks to wear to work...

Yeah, well shoes for work are more of a necessity. :).

Ive had my xbox one since january. got it pretty much free. I can count the number of times i have played it, and it has not been many. Maybe im just outgrowing video games. Or maybe its just the first batch of games that sucked.

I play FIFA every once in a while, but i was underwhelmed.

    This is exactly me.

The onebox has been seriously underwhelming, which to your point, may be just how I view video games in general now.

I do, but after buying a game or two you're still looking at $500 give or take. And I'm not even interested in the PS4. I'll still probably bite the bullet once Sony and Microsoft both have REAL price drops, but selling it without the Kinect and dropping the price doesn't count.

Initially I was all in with all the extras that these consoles offer, but now I just really want something to play 2k and maybe Madden on. If there were a dumbed down version that only allowed you to purchase and play games I'd be all over it.

One thing I noticed using XBO that is kind of flaky imo and, after some research, it seemed to be an issue with others is...there is a timing issue when you set the HDMI audio type/format to anything other than stereo uncompressed when using the XBO to power on/off your devices. It will never be able to switch the audio it is sending to anything other than stereo uncompressed (i.e. default) because of a timing issue with how it powers on the XBO and your devices. For example, if I set the XBO HDMI Audio setting to Dolby Digital (or bitstream or whatever)...then the audio on the receiver never gets set to Dolby Digital but only stereo every single time. Then, I have to go manually switch it in Audio Settings after power on every time. However, if I use my Harmony remote to power on all the devices in a certain sequence while disabling the XBO power on option and standby mode, then it works correctly. I think the XBO needs the ability to control the order of how it powers on devices and I did not see this as an option. Ideally, you want the a/v receiver on first ready to receive the signal but, since the XBOX must power on first (or it's already on but booting from standby mode in this scenario) to then power on the rest of the devices, it will never work correctly on the audio setting and always default to stereo. Initially, I thought it was a bug where XBO wasn't remembering the HDMI audio setting but, after some troubleshooting, I figured out this is what was happening. That said...I'm not sure if it's just a problem with certain a/v receivers or all of them in this scenario. I just know what's happening with my Onkyo. A minor annoyance but I disabled the standby mode and ability to voice command all devices on as a result...because the audio never sets up correctly. I also don't like the idea of standby mode drawing 10 or 15 watts of power just to use an audio command to power it on (among a few other functions). It's not worth the waste of electricity imo. But, then you have to put up with the 45 second reboot and the reloading of apps from scratch. I'd rather wait then have to go in and always switch the audio manually like I mentioned every time I use XBO to power on my devices from the "Xbox On" voice command.

That's true, although there haven't been many games released for either system yet. That's the main reason I'm holding out.

Holy cow. That all sounds really complicated. One of the reasons I was considering eventually getting an Xbone was because of it acting as a central control center for pretty much my entire entertainment center.

But I like having my receiver being able to have different modes of audio for different things. I have one setting for regular DVD movies, and one for Blu-Ray, plus a different one for games.

I'm not the most technically savvy guy, and having to work around the Xbone which I thought might make everything easier could be a problem.

Maybe it's easier to do once you get your hands on it than just reading about it. I don't know since I don't have one at this time.

Honestly, that's why I got the one and love the one. I haven't had an issue like his, but then again my system is rather simple as well.

    ^Oops! Fixed.

So...like a PS3 or an Xbox 360? I'm fairly certain 2k15 versions will still be made available for (last?) gen consoles. I mean, I don't think the graphics will be thaaaat much different.

    2k16, probably not though.

Madden 15 (August26) and FIFA 15 (September 23rd) will both be TRUE next gen games. The launch versions were ports of Madden 13 and FIFA 13 (not Madden 25 and FIFA 14) with added features to try to match last years' versions. You can CLEARLY see that both new versions were built from the ground up for the Xbox one and PS4.
