I have dated and porked many a Lebanese or Jordanian Muslim lass. Many of them did not view themselves as oppressed.... then again, they were not living in Iran or Saudi Arabia.

Liberated means different things to different woman and in different cultures.

Those Muslim girls LOVE white men though.

The fact that they were free to date you already means they were so much more free than most of the girls who live there, as you rightly point out.

Maybe they felt they were getting treated well?

Yes, they were free to date me (although in many cases their family was not happy), in some cases they were seriously bordering on being athiests or religion played virtually no part in their life.

Some wanted to come to the USA, but many were wealthy and were satisfied spending their time shopping, talking to their friends and studying in school.

I am sure some of the appeal of white men is that it is exotic to them... but to answer your question, yes I know that some of it was that white men were more laid back and did not demand or demean them. It has come up before ... some really hated Arab men.

"Hatred and bitterness can never cure the disease of fear; only love can do that. Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illumines it."--Bacha Khan

Did he steal that quote from Gandhi or the other way around? I remember Gandhis quote was the same except about animals.

    Nice quote.

I read about the man's life, he was a great Muslim, as far as I can understand.

He promoted non-violence, education and stepped up for the rights of women.

I wish there were more Bacha Khans around the world.

Why does me quoting a great Muslim man make adeelsiddiqui so angry that he calls me a "psycho neo-nazi"?

Does it make adeelsiddiqui angry if someone brings up the thought that women should be treated with respect?

Could you kindly explain how ONE point of comparison relating to women/gender correlates to an overall society's view of women?

I see you have a high opinion of females to not be considered a hypocrite and turn this thread into the ultimate ironic statement.

The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons. -- Dosoevsky

Sure makes America and Israel look bad, eh? EEEEHHHH?

Hmm, let's see who else we can make look bad with a meaningless, over-generalizing quote...

As long as you can explain how one standard of humanity (i.e. how a civilization treats its women) is at all an objective marker for measuring "civilization" to begin with.

Not a good sign for us Americans, where young girls aspire to be whores and objects of desire by sleeping with every black rapper until they can have their own reality show. At least in Islamic culture the girls who aren't living in barbaric conditions are treated like princesses. in the US girls want to be treated badly, they see it as a sign of strength. NOT A GOOD SIGN.
