No true. Phoenix didn't want to pick more than one player in this years draft, because they're lacking playing time to develop those players behind established veterans on their roster. The problem was that everybody knew that and they couldn't get fair value for the picks in a trade, so they ended up using them anyway. The end result is they had to stash two of their picks in Europe, they're sending Ennis to the D-league and ended up with T.J Warren as the only rotational player that will have any impact on the team in the near future. That's sever inflation of assets and could very easily also happen next year with the selections already they have without accumulating more.
And all of their players are assets as well if he's anything like Morey. Dragic is a HUGE asset for them - they will not give him up lightly. The thing with picks is they're more likely to be a bust than a star historically. If you've already got someone who is star-level - or even borderline - why risk losing him on something that might turn out to be a bust? I get the stockpiling picks thing. Waiting for the right trade to come along (Harden), waiting for the right cap situation to present itself so you can use picks to facilitate a situation that nets a big star (like we did with Dwight and tried to do with Bosh). I get it, and I understand that PHO is playing the same game. So of course our pick might have value to them. But enough? For Dragic? If I'm evaluating that pick, do I think I am likely to get a player on his level? Personally, I say not very likely at all. Of course, I am looking at it from the Houston standpoint, where we are looking for value now, and PHO is still a year or two off from contending. But... I don't give up Dragic if I am them unless it is a better pick than we have. I think the Pellies can be good next season. I don't make odds based on injury likelihood - everyone in the league is a tweaked knee away from serious injury. From the HOU standpoint I'd definitely give that NOP pick up for Dragic. From the PHO standpoint, I'd hold on to Dragic.
How do you know this? Are you employed by the Suns? If not then you have no ideal of what Phoenix wanted to do, so basically you are just guessing. T_Man
I haven't seen anyone here say they don't want Dragic. Only people who think it's unlikely. We'd all love to see The Dragon fly home.
Yo Haymitch. I've tried posting the link 4 times now and the post keeps getting deleted... Not sure why.
Pulling a limb from treeman... Don't believe everything you hear.. If they really wanted to get rid of those picks they could have.. Basically GM's are marketing people and leak what info they want the public to know and say stuff to throw people off. They made those picks not because they had to but because they wanted to. T_Man
I feel you, but most of what we understand abut the universe is based on best guesses and approximations. Very useful tools.
No what you should do is post from a fan guessing stand point and not as if you know exactly what they want to do... Just like know one on here knows what Morey is doing, all we can do is guess... Even Cyberex post from his standpoint and not as if even works for the Rockets.. It kills me when guys talk and post like their the right hand man of the GM. T_Man
