The Palestinians want to control all the land like I want to be a billionaire. Israel has control of the land and will continue to in perpetuity. It could possibly change some stuff (most notably the situation for the average Gazan as Israel and Egypt might ease the restriction of the flow of goods). It wouldn't change the fundamentals of the conflict which basically stems from 2 people on the same land mixed in with religous fundamentalism. If Hamas quit existing today, there is still going to be flare ups.
When was the last time Hamas recognized Israel? Never? How can one dismiss the impact when it's never been tried. If they recognized Israel, the pressure were immediately go on Israel to negotiate. They've been saying, like forever, that as long as Israel's enemies refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist, they would be treated as such - as enemies. Egypt recognized Israel. When was the last time Israel attacked Egypt? Jordan recognized Israel. When was the last time Israel attacked Jordan? This attitude plays into the hands of those who do not want peace, regardless of who they are - Israel, the PLA, or Hamas.
None of Jordanian or Egyptian land is illegally occupied by Israel. And neither country has their citizens kicked out of their homes to have illegal settlements built by Israel. Why would Palestinians recognize Israel as a country, when slowly Israel is taking over all of the Palestinian lands? http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/12/dfismay-israeli-illegal-settlements
I'm not going to repeat my post. Either you get it, or you don't. Risks have to be taken in order to have peace.
Israel was part of Jordan and the West Bank was controlled by Jordan prior to '48. Gaza was also Egyptian controlled. You have falsely characterized the situation. Mind you, there has never been a country called Palestine from which to take anything.
Stop firing rockets at Israel and try diplomacy and their fear of attack will subside. But diplomacy is hard to achieve when one party doesn't recognize the existence of the other.
Diplomacy? Diplomacy is something that two states can engage in. But here, what we have are a settler colonialist state and a native population. I would like to see one state, one vote for everyone. A true, inclusive democracy. That scares Israel and it's government, not Palestinians. Says a lot.
Just because a people stole the land from the previous owners before the latest people stole the land doesn't make those people "natives". Both groups came about the land in similar fashion and it's naive to pretend otherwise. Funny enough, the people the "Palestinians" stole the land from stole the land from someone else themselves.
No one was kicked out of their homes in those instances, now were they? What difference does it make if Palestine was ever considered a country or not? Fact remains the land belonged to Palestinians, and they were kicked out of their homes which were destroyed, illegally, by the terrorist state of Israel. Oh, and... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_recognition_of_the_State_of_Palestine
Another post with zero facts. Right, they can't have diplomacy if they refuse to acknowledge Israel. So they could start there. They could also stop firing rockets. Well, it's been fun. I did in fact learn a little, so thanks. But I'm going to bed and I have a job so it's doubtful I'll keep tabs on this thread.
Haha you are so wrong. It's a fact. Arabs are the natives. Sorry for hurting your feelings with the truth.
The link you sent clearly stated that Palestine didn't exist until 1988, at best, so nobody stole their land. If anything, the land belonged or Jordan and Egypt.
LOL, trust me kid, you aren't hurting my feelings. I think it's great that you are here parroting the propaganda that your mom and dad told you growing up. I suggest you take an ancient history course at some point, you'll learn a lot about the history of the region and why just about anyone claiming to be "native" to that region is probably wrong. As to the Palestinians, their claim is merely that they conqured the land first and held it for a really long time.
Arabs didn't build Jerusalem. It's not a fact that Arabs are native. I'll concede that Arabs have been the predominant force during the Ottoman empire which lasted for hundreds of years. But there is no reasonable historical account that suggests that Arabs built Jerusalem.
But you will cry when the Zionist state becomes one democratic state for all it's people right? Seems you are quite invested in Israel without being from the region. I'm from there ya albi haha
That's the formal state of Palestine in regards to the United Nations. The land known as Palestine has been regarded as such well before the creation of Israel. In case you forgot, it was called the British Mandate of Palestine
Arabs have been the predominant population since they conquered the land 1,200 years ago. They were also the ones who allowed Jews back into Jerusalem after they had been banned for centuries by the Roman Empire.
Their claim precedes any Israeli claim to the land via the McMahon-Hussein Correspondence. The Balfour Declaration came a decade later, and even then, only called for a Jewish national home to be founded in Palestine.. not for a state to be created separately for Jewish people.
I don't get why you think I'd care one way or the other, is it that you feel a need to demonize anyone who doesn't agree with you?
