Out of the playoff contending teams that would probably trade for Dragic or Bledsoe which has a more valuable Draft pick than the one we own from NO?

Maybe a better question would be "How many future draft picks do they already have, and do they want/need more?"

    Look here:

    http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

Phoenix Suns: 2015 first round draft pick from Minnesota
Minnesota's 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-12 in 2015 or 1-12 in 2016; if Minnesota has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Phoenix by 2016, then Minnesota will instead convey its 2016 2nd round pick and 2017 2nd round pick to Phoenix [Minnesota-New Orleans-Phoenix, 7/27/2012]

2015 first round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
    L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-5 in 2015, 1-3 in 2016 or 1-3 in 2017 or unprotected in 2018 [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012]

+ their own, no outgoing picks. So they already have 3 lined up for 2015, 2 from likely crappy teams. Why do they need ours? Is it worth a player like Dragic?

If I'm in their boat I only trade Dragic for an impact player.

So they get a Faried or Nene and that NOH pick winds up on a 3rd team?

Sounds like Minny will be keeping their pick, this year and possibly even in 2016 if they stay crappy s/p Kevin Love's departure. In that case Phoenix only gets two second rounders.

Ish also knows the PHX system even better. And IMO Bledsoe is Morey's 3rd star and Dragic is the fallback. Bledsoe is a plus defender and has been very successful playing off all with another ball dominant guard (John Wall). Dragic would be great upgrade to PG position or replace Lin as offense off the bench. Bev is clearly the better defender however. Not the case with Bledsoe. Bev may have slight edge defensively, maybe, guarding 1s but Bledsoe can also guard 2s with same efficacy.

Want Bledsoe, but no remorse if we get Dragic instead. But sign Shawn Marion already.

Okay but isn't our pick potentially better than all the ones they have? And if I'm a gm I can't have enough first round picks. You can always flip those to move way up in the draft. And what's more likely to net an impact player? Impact players that are in the trade market tend to play for bad teams. so what do bad teams want? Goran Dragic or 4 first round picks?

The Pelicans are going to be pretty good this year. The pick is overrated on this board.

That Lakers pick will be fantastic. But you just know the NBA will do something fishy like make the Lakers the winners of the lottery.

If they're good the pick will be deferred. If they're good, it's still the west. Good probably wont be good enough.

I wouldn't view that pick in a vacuum. If the Wolves send Love out they will get something in return. That pick just might be worth something next season, even with those protections. Combine it, they can trade up (even if it doesn't come next season). You know that Lakers pick is a nice one, they will still suck.

But does Phoenix want to play that game? They are close. They have an awesome backcourt. They need impact players at other positions to compete. Do they want to play the draft game, or will they hold/sell those for the right player? If I am them I go for it. The West is so tight... but they are pretty good, and I think the right player could take them to the next level. I don't think they do it with draft picks. And ours is redundant to them at this point anyway. At best it's a marginal improvement over what they have already.

Pelicans have a bunch of young injury prone players in a tough division in a tough conference.

The PHX GM is an asset collector and trader like Morey. There is no such thing as having too many draft picks for the PHX GM. Even if he doesn't want to use a pick to select a player to keep for himself, he will want that pick in order to trade either the pick or the player selected.

Draft picks are currency in the NBA, the same way that cigarettes and cans of mackerel serve as currency in prison. Even if you don't intend to use it, somebody give you value for it.

Remember 2012? The Rockets had their own 1st round pick and one due from NY (TMac trade). 2011 1st round pick DMo was due to join the NBA They traded Budinger for another one from MIN and Jordan Hill for a future 1st round pick. They bought a 2nd rounder on draft night (Furkan Aldemir). Then they got a 2nd round picks via S&T deal involving Courtney Lee and Marcus Camby. And then they still traded Kyle Lowry (whom they value a lot, having played extremely well and with 2 years remaining on a MLE contract) for that Toronto 1st rounder.

It didn't matter to Morey that the team had all these rookies and draft picks because they are assets that could be thrown in to a trade. It didn't matter that Kyle Lowry was a really good player and likely to be better than a player selected in the mid-late lotto (which the Toronto pick was expected to be). He was just collecting assets and keeping his assets fresh.

Remember when Phoenix sold the Rajon Rondo pick at the height of the Nash-Stoudemire-Marion years? Sarver is even cheaper than Les I love it.

So unless you see a "report" on a rumor you won't give it any credence? That's stupid.

Please, pray tell, describe one of these "reports" to us... Are they anything like the "reports" that had bosh essentially locked up before we found out those "reports" were totally bogus? Those kind of "reports"?

I wasn't the one who brought up the "reports." Another poster did. So I asked if I could see them. Still waiting.
