I know he's older and probably will command more next year on the market, but I really do prefer Dragic over Bledsoe at this point. Injury scares me.
If that is true, they are going for the wrong guy. Dragic is healthy and fit. I wonder if DM and Les, see Dragic as a Lin type player. I don't see Drew's predictions coming to fruition.
One thing that probably doesn't interest phx that much is picks. They have 3 next year and are looking to unload at least 1. Adding another one just gives them more things they don't need. What they need is size. Come to them with good, young big men (more than Jones and DMo) and you might get their attention.
Sounds like Dragic is the fallback plan, but Bledsoe is the prize. Rockets may need to sign someone to MLE real soon. Can we combine TPE, TJ, Gee and a pick to S&T Bledsoe/Dragic?
If that is the case I wonder why Rockets are still sitting on both TPE and MLE? Isn't it use it or lose it??
Makes sense to go after Blesode, Dagic cant guard anyone. But if that Lakers trade is really possible, we cant compete with Randle and our draft pick, unless we sell the Pels pick real hard to them
Bledsoe fits better with Harden because he is much better defensively the than Dragic. Dragic will do well as a sixth man but won't fit that well with Harden although it will be an improvement over Lin. It makes sense to shoot for the best first.Bledsoe is certainly a piece you can build around, even though I don't call him a franchise or foundational player. I hope Morey can keep Beverley. He us severely underrated by fans here. I am amazed that he was in the all defensive team but still very few thinks highly of him.
Can't combine those, would need to be 2 separate deals. Also, Dragic cannot be signed to an extension and traded, not eligible yet from what I've read around here.
Dragic DOES play good defense....and it will look even better with the help we can provide...plus he will be guarding 1's exclusively. You don't think it's possible that PHX is trying to get some leverage with the L.A. rumor? Also....would you think it plausible that we want to give up Jones, but they want DMo?
Also, doesn't Bledsoe have to agree to a sign and trade?!? Wouldn't he prefer Houston over LA, like every other sane FA?
I think PHX is just exploring their options. Rumors as to who is at the front of the line may not even be all the relevant or truthful. The PHX GM came from the Celtics organization, and like Morey and Ainge, they view players as assets and will keep or move any of them under the right circumstances. This is especially true when the team, like Phoenix, isn't quite a contender yet. Remember, these guys were nice and exciting and all, but they were the 9th place team like the Rockets were for those 3 years after Yao/McGrady's departure and the West is still loaded. They might get better this upcoming season (even after losing Channing Frye, who is pretty important to their way of play) but are they a real "title contender"? Bledsoe and Dragic are two very good players, but PHX has to explore the best way to increase or at least renew their asset value. We'll see whether any team offers a package that PHX considers desirable.
