Might be a strange question, but is Clutch an insider? I'd imagine he has a lot of contacts within the Rockets organization.

If I'm not mistaken, morey is operating as if he were over the cap with the MLE and BAE. Meaning if he signs someone it'd have to be for those exact amounts. Otherwise if he signs players above those amounts it'd be considered using cap space.

Once he signs players to the MLE and BAE amounts they'll be over the cap. So he can chose right now to use the cap space or the exceptions. But it's more advantageous to use the exceptions.

We traded Asik for Ariza. We have a $8M TPE for trading Lin. Parsons' salary was under a mil. We could go over the cap to give him a max because of the bird right, but it doesn't mean we have that much cap space.

Technically if we surrender Lin's TPE, we will be under the cap. But right now we're operating above it.

Not that this should be a surprise to anyone, but with the signings of these guys, a potential outright signing of Bledsoe is pretty much gone.

I have a question: wouldn't you guys think the Suns would want Beverley back in a sign and trade for Bledsoe or trade for Dragic?

I would think Bev is a pretty good asset because of his fantastic defense and his cheap contract, so I'm just wondering why you guys think we could get away with a trade without giving up arguably our best "asset" available besides Harden and Howard obviously.

    1. If Suns are willing to do the trade, that means they think they have too many quality guards on the roster. So why would they want PBev?

    2. Are the Suns over the cap? If so, we'd have to send out enough salary to make the trade work. And I don't think we have enough salary. Not until Dec 15 which is when we're allowed to trade Ariza.

Suns should be way below. That Lin trade exception would have to be included.

Well I believe the Suns like the three guard lineup, and they don't want to pay max to Bledsoe and Dragic, so why wouldn't they try to poach Beverley.

I don't think you can combine TPE with other salaries to make a trade.

Some people are proposing we trade unproven players for one of Phoenix's stud point guards. I love Nick Johnson too, but Phoenix isn't running to Morey begging for him. Same with Canaan, Covington. If I'm the Phoenix GM I am trying to nab the highest talent at the best value I can get from a team no matter the position. I would think any deal to Phoenix would be centered around Beverley and TJ plus probably the NO draft pick. Looking at it from Phoenix's point of view they love the two pg lineup, but they clearly don't wanna put all their money into that position. They could get a defensive stud in Beverley on the cheap, we use the trade exception in the deal, plus TJ, plus the unguaranteed contracts. Would that work?

Dang it, back to the drawing board on my proposal. How exactly can you use a TPE, besides just using it to act as if you're operating over the cap?
