He made a twitter post. Suddenly that becomes a burnt bridge. Man, some of you guys are thin skin as heck.
These bandwagon fans..... Sometimes you just need to gamble in order to be great! We gamble on Bosh, if we got him, then we will be really great in the future couple years. Yes, we lost, so?? We only lose a late 1st round and a very late 2nd round pick. It is a much worth gambling. Bosh's camp might worried about us clearing the max space for him and Lakers are pushing at the same time. Therefore Morey pull the trigger. Bottom line, we still have our 2 main core players and added a really good defensive wing which is much needed for this team and we still have the cap space to improve the team. So please relax!
If Harden had spent more energy in defense and let Lin do more playmaking, he would have been a better fit with the Rockets.
i cant wait to hear kobe in a post game interview talk about lin picking up his dribble in the paint!
Lin won't be picking up his dribble because the Lakers aren't going to give him the hook. The job is his. They respect him. The Rockets didn't.
I love all the posters on hear saying there was a deadline. I'm sure the Lakers were giving us a deadline as they were laughing behind our backs collecting 8 million dollars and two draft picks, along with Lin on a one year expiring contract that is tradeable at the deadline. We got played in a big way on this one!!!
I don't know, Wekko. Meeks' and Lin's PER and Win Shares are very similar. But two things are clear, at least statistically. 1) Jodie Meeks is definitely a better shooter and offensive threat than Jeremy Lin. For example, Jodie has a higher PPG (15.7), FG% (46.3%), eFG% (55.4%), TS% (60.1%), ORPM (+1.53), and xRAPM (Off) [+0.98] than JLin’s PPG (12.5), FG% (44.6%), eFG% (50.8%), TS% (57.2%), ORPM (-0.20), and xRAPM (Off) [+0.14]. 2. Lin is clearly a better defender. Compare Lin’s DefRtg (102.0 pts allowed per 100 possessions), DRPM (+0.28), and xRAPM (Def) [+0.07] to Meeks’ DefRtg (110.3 ppg allowed per 100 possessions), DRPM (-1-94), and xRAPM (Def) [-1.74]. Also, I would argue that Lin has a bigger impact on his team than Meeks. For example, compare Lin’s per game +/- (+2.4), Total RPM (+0.08), Total xRAPM (+0.21), and NetRtg (+5.1 ppg) to Meeks per game +/- (-6.6 ppg), Total RPM (-0.41), xRAPM (-0.76), and NetRtg (-8.9 ppg), all negative. The Rockets were actually better by +2.4 ppg with Lin on the floor; and better by +5.1 ppg (per 100 possession) with Lin on the floor. The Lakers were actually better by +6.6 ppg with Meeks on the bench, and, better by +8.9 ppg (per 100 possessions) with Meeks on the bench. So, while Meeks is the better shooter, Lin was more important to the Rockets than Meeks was to the Lakers. If Meeks could defend even a little (he can’t), he be a great sixth man and/or 3&D guy. By the way, Ish Smith is a pretty good defender; his xRAPM (Def) is +0.59 and his DefRtg at nba.com is 101.8, the same as Beverley. But unlike Beverley whose xRAPM (Off) is a huge positive (+3.28), Ish Smith's xRAPM (Off) is an awful -3.08 (he hinders offensive flow). Since his Total xRAPM is -2.49, it can be argued that he was his impact on Suns roster was overall negative.
Edit#1 (line 5):....Meeks' DRPM is -1.94.....not -1-94. Sorry. Edit#2 (last line): ....it can be argued that his (Meeks) overall impact on Suns was negative.
I think this is the most interesting development. When Lin first went to the Lakers a lot of people were like, 'its for the pick. They are going to bench him or amnesty him or whatever.' But the lakers are actually committed to him. They have publicly said he is for sure the starter and will get major minutes. They put their media dept in high gear pumping him up with all these positive videos n stats n stuff. And they cut Marshall. And no matter how well Clarkson plays in summer league... well, its summer league. It takes rookies a couple years to become average unless they are freaks like Lebron. So... how many times has this happened? One team hates a player, views them as a net negative, a bad backup... and then another team takes their huge contract and trumps them up as a starter? I mean, if it was like Minnesota or Milwaukee or something. But the Lakers? With Kobe there, glaring? It all seems strange on some level. I almost take it as the Lakers organization implying that they feel Houston doesn't know how to utilize their players.
ok I wish we could place bets on who will be the first called racist. I think whoever they get as coach but could be Kobe.
