What are your sources on this that Law doesn't have?

Please show where you are getting this very inside information.

    Thanks

Actually they have had 3, and have gone 1 for 3 (although some are still very high on Appel)

Is this a legal proceeding? Why does evidence have to be provided with a message board post?

Obviously it doesn't "have to be"

But when you state things as if you have "knowledge" of them, instead of as opinion, it would be nice to see where it comes from

And i'm not saying guys like Keith Law have great inside info, but it is funny to me that a guy on a message board pretends to have more knowledge of the situation than those guys...unless, as I asked to see, he has inside info and knows that Luhnow has been assured by mlb that they won't have to give up the pick

Lol oh to be a Houston sports fan.

Aiken must seriously HATE this organization or have a massive ego and no sense. $5 million guaranteed? You take that all day. Tomorrow is not guaranteed and there is a long list of pitchers whose injuries have derailed their careers. Or just struggle like Rodon or Appel. Wherever he goes he not only has to stay healthy and dominate but then also be better than anyone else coming out! All it takes is two stellar prospects out shining him and bam he still ends up with less bonus. Someone teach this kid the concept of time value of money.....

Apparently what he wants is to be $5 million dollars poorer.

Hey, Buster -- why don't YOU just write a check for $1.5M!

    Sincerely,
    Jim Crane

    Buster is wrong.

If we paid him $6.5, we couldn't sign nix and marshall right?

When he has no UCL, it isn't worth it unless we get the other guys also.

How could they have known about Aiken's UCL, or lack of. I'm not holding this against their ability to scout talent. It's concerns me in other regards though.

They have had 2 picks that actually played and they are 1 for 2 at this point (or so it seems, lot to play out)

As long as you don't root for him to blow his arm out it's all good.

MLB had said the Astros were participating within the rules after Close & the Union bashed them.

Ok, but we were talking about the Nix grievance

We could have signed Nix. The original deals that the Astros "agreed" to were to give him the 6.5 and sign Nix, wouldn't have signed Marshall though

One of the biggest complaints of Close was the Nix situation. MLB said Astros were within rules. That is the best source we have by far.

I never claimed to have any inside information on the issue. It is COMMON SENSE. The Astros have been in constant contact with MLB on the Aiken situation and the commissioners office even said the Astros have done nothing wrong.

Do you really think the Astros were not aware of the possible penalty? Do you really think that the Astros would pass on signing Aiken if there was a realistic chance of them losing their #1 pick?

Aren't you the same poster that started a thread disapointed with the Astros minor league system under Luhnow after roughly 2 years?

My guess is we didn't even think Aiken was worth $3 mil with that UCL but had to offer it to get the #2 pick next year.

Astros would rather get that pick next year rather than get a tiny UCL pitcher.

Before today, I was getting a really cunty vibe from Jim Crane. I had strong suspicions of his cuntness.

    Now it's official.

Not sure how you blame Crane.

It's all Luhnow. Crane is just letting him do what he wants.
