Is that really the case? 3 years?

If so, he's really an idiot. Chance of injury over the next 3 years...plus lost wages over that time.

People keep pointing to the Astros ruining their reputation over 1.5 million dollars. Well, Aiken is potentially losing a lot more over 1.5 million.

Let's not act like you've been an Astros apologist who's finally turned on them.

Agreeing to two deals and trying to reneg it and leveraging another player's agreed upon deal is wrong. It's really scummy frankly. They rolled the dice that Aiken would cave so they could get Nix and Marshall because they know they could turn around next year and do the same thing if Aiken didn't cave. It's a dick move to reneg on your word.

I'll pretend you post anything other than sarcastic, snarky one liners because that's easier for you than actual dialogue. :)

His family looks pretty well off from the videos I've seen. If he's as good as Lunhnow raved about he's going to make a lot more than $5m in his career.

You are on vacation with your family on a very important day. Can't reschedule? Plan better? This guy must have gone to the Obama school of business.

so if money wasn't an issue in his first contract, why not take what they offered? is it worth winning a battle over principle to push your career back (at least) a year?

i just have a hard time finding any angle where aiken isn't by far the biggest loser in this ordeal.

So basically, we screwed over Aiken by claiming that we were dealing with his agent? Oh this is funny.

    The Nix thing is worrisome.

Between the Andre Johnson situation and this -- I mean, I have no love for either front office...

But people REALLY need to stop taking business decisions so personally.

All I ever see is how "scummy" a team is or how "unethical" a player or team is. The Astros made a decision. All that should matter in the long run is: Did they break any rules? Can they build a winner.

Believe me. If they don't start winning, none of this will matter and they'll be out. They have to do what they think is right. Time always tells if they are.

I guess Feldman has one. How's that $30 million working out?

    sigh..

This has been an awful week to be a Houston sports fan, and not a single game was lost.

We'll just have to see what they do with the top 2 picks next year before ruling this a complete disaster.

A large majority of the board keeps coming back to this, so I know what I say won't be popular here...and that is cool

But WHY would you trust this front office to do a good job with those two "top" picks next year?

Heck yea man, that is awesome!

Two top picks next year, SWEET!!

That's what it's all about right, picking at the top of the draft?

If the Astros had been able to do a physical he wouldn't have gone number one. They couldn't have known this.

The Astros have had 2 number one picks and it seems have gone 1 for 2, not some catastrophic track record of selecting poorly.
