So, Aiken must not really be hurt then... and he has enough confidence in what the doctors told him that he will not be getting hurt any time soon.

Well, it was the "possibility" of them getting him that turned all of this around on the Astros (PR wise). They had previously already had deals with Aiken/Nix ready to go (without any money for Marshall). After the physical, they reduced the offer to Aiken which made Marshall a possibility if he signed. Now, are we just back to the original premise (with a tons of bad PR and venom of some agents and the players union added on?)
I didn't, but he was a fairly high pick, just because we don't know who they are ahead of time doesn't mean it's good to just throw away high picks
