I got time, and Harden got time. It's Dwert who does not have much left but I don't mind replacing him with 2 other allstars if time is up.
Well said. One thing I do remember this last season about TJ is he was a monster for some reason against the Spurs. My Spurs brethren want to see him traded cuz don't like how he matches up with them. LOL
I think majority of rockets fan have a soft spot for jones and rate him as a player of great potential with a unique style of play. Despite this though, and as most would agree, the 4 spot was still the biggest liability in the team and we needed to upgrade there more so so then any other position to REALLY compete. The PG spot was second behind PF but most backed Beverly to hold his own, which I agree with simply because of his desire and competitive edge. If we had ended up with a top tier player at PF, Beverly would have been our weakest starter and with the skills he brings to the table, our roster would be very good (coaching is another issue..). But as we struck out on a good to great PF, it severely weakens the overall make up and balance of our starting lineup. Jones is a good prospect and a lot of teams would covet him. However the West is stacked at PF and T-Jones does struggle to match up defensively most of the time. I think this is mainly due to his inexperience but considering our window of opportunity, we are obliged to forgo the potential and use him as a back up or trade him for the right piece if need be. I would absolutely LOVE to have him in a back up 4 role as well as spot minutes at the 5 as it would create so much versatility/variety in our lineups. However that seems unlikely unless we nab a Milsap/Anderson/Ilyasova which, in my opinion, is a better move then overpaying for Eric Bledsoe (I don't believe he is a max player. Same for Hayward and Parsons and a lot of max/near max players for that matter.) B.T.W - You cant really judge Jones on his effort on LeMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge hit a tonne of ridiculous/un-defendable shots throughout that series, especially in the first 2 games. Even though it was brutal to watch, my hat goes off to him because he was easily the most dominant player in the series. I also blame the coaching staff for not being able to devise a defensive strategy to stop what was essentially either a high pick and roll with Lillard and LMA or a LMA catch 15 feet out on the baseline for a turnaround jumper/back down into the paint (coaching is another issue..). B.T.W.W - Our coaching staff is our greatest concern, especially in situations like the playoffs where coaching is really magnified. B.T.W.W.W - I'm really drunk/high as I write this. Does this make sense or am I just rambling? It also took me a good 30 mins to write this which is a true testament to my current state ahahah!! TLDR: Jones=great potential but is clearly the most expendable/biggest need for an upgrade. I'm also very intoxicated and high.
Can't trust a guy who doesn't box out. In big moments, you need a guy who will box out. Spurs would have repeated there championship this year had Mr Fundemental been on the court.
he's young but he's shorter and was the weakest link in the playoffs as a starter. I do hope he gets better.
The guy does not like play defense, does not like box out, does not like rebounding. One thing he likes is to score.
I'm tired of people saying this, he's as big, if not bigger, then Kevin Love and Blake Griffin. The only substantially bigger PF's then Jones are LMA and Dirk, and they're both jump shooters. Like you said, he's young, he doesn't know how to use his size to his full advantage yet. Last year, his first year as a starter, he showed great improvement from his rookie year. At 22-yrs-old, he could easily take another step forward putting him in the above average PF category. People just need to be patient, and see how he does this upcoming season. If the front office feel's like he's not improving fast enough, there's always the option to trade him. But not until they see what type of player they on their hands.
He actually played 2 years at the University of Kentucky. He avaeraged 16/9 playing with John Wall. He fell off the map when Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist came on board. I still don't understand the hype behind Kidd-Gilchrist. I see Tayshaun Prince, but whatever. Then we let him play a year in the D-League and only played 27 minutes a game in his rookie season. We're judging him on essentially his rookie year. He showed some range at UK. There's no reason to believe he couldn't get his FT% up to 70%. If he played 35 minutes a game, why is 17/9 out of the question? There's an entire season and off-season for him to improve. It wasn't Jones fault we lost to Portland. We lacked a leader. I know shooters shoot to get out of slumps, but Harden just chucking from 30 feet lost it for us. If that ever happens again, Dwight has to DEMAND the ball. God I hope Boozer isn't going to be our answer.
my problem with him is he did decent to avg in the season and completely didn't show up in the playoffs. his hustle and IQ was also gone too. he was the worse rocket in the playoffs next to james when james didn't show up. we'll see how he's improved. he has good ball handling skills but needs a jump shot and his IQ and timing need to greatly improve. that's not even talking about his terrible defense.
