Actually, he isn't any different. If you watched his D-League game last year he played like this on a regular basis. However, his game did change when he played with Harden, which wasn't very often. Canaan would be a good candidate to play when Harden takes a breather. Basically the Jeremy Lin role.
Experience. In the long run (possibly even by midseason), I expect Nick Johnson to takeover the backup 2 role. However, as it stands right now, Nick needs to gain more experience playing with the big dogs, running our offense and understanding what is asked of him. The D League has tougher competition than the SL and will do a great job of molding Nick. With all that being said, I agree with your argument. Troy Daniels gets a lot of hype for a skill that Canaan already brings to the table and Nick eventually will. But the fact of the matter is that NBA coaches prefer stability and knowing what they're getting out of their guy night-in and night-out. This is especially true for veteran coaches of contenders like McHale. Another important factor is familiarity. If our bench is truly going to be revamped with all this young talent, it would be ideal to have guys who have gone to war with one another. In our case, Canaan-Daniels-Covington have played together a ton. Remember, at the end of the day the most important role of the bench is consistency. This is the reason why the Spurs are so successful and a big reason why Lin-Casspi-DMo frustrated many of us.
I like Johnson. The kid is a hustler and anyone that size doing an in-game 360 has a big ol pair. Good shooter as well. I'm just going to chalk it up to just being an off night for Covington because of what I've seen of him in the D-league.
That sounds good. We're going to have to wait to see what Morey does. It's still plenty of off season left. Things can change at any minute.
"Wiggins, the number one overall selection in this year's NBA Draft scored 21 points and displayed his ability to get to the free-throw line. He converted 15-of-20 free-throw attempts." Harden faints
He was waived prior to FA to create cap space, and only recently have we agreed to terms with him again.
Thanks .. Thought of him of an undersize PG, who like to be with D12, did't see much of his skills until this summer So far he can provide whatever was needed from Lin &AB

Dang, newfound respect for Canaan. Putting the moves on Wiggins, and the "Francisco Garcia-esque" stare down. Absolutely beautiful.
