I forgot about Daniels. This year there may be a lil better scoring coming off the bench. Last year it was pretty much just Lin. We were ranked #26 in bench scoring.

Pretty interesting that SL featured a heavy dose of 3 of our (likely) primary backups: Canaan, DMo and Covington.

It will be pretty fun to watch this group continue to develop and grow.

Yes, but as CH noted, if a rookie is good enough, he'll definitely give them time. I also think he's going to have a sentimental attachment to Nick Johnson.

He just gotta learn his limits, what he can do & what he can't. He slowed down too much on a break and Wiggins made a beautiful block. But he's a good athlete & tough as nails he'll figure it out. Covington isn't shooting well and fouled way too much tonight but don't count him out in the long run. I really like some of the young guys. Canaan, Johnson, D-Mo, & Covington are showing some good things.

Put in work last season and earned his stripes.

Last year Bev hadn't come on as strong yet.

Very impressed with Canaan and Nick Johnson. I can see Johnson getting called up fast if Ish flounders. DMo was totally DMo. I like how he grabbed the foul shot rebound and put it up and in. smooth. He's so...uh...unusual !

So there's still hope in Clutch City after all ! Canaan is gonna make anybody forget about...whatzisname / good bye fool.

    LOL @ ESPN front page:

"Cleveland has changed its stance and is now willing to trade No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love, a source confirmed." They should have that gif with that statement. ^^^

It's mostly for rookies, DMo wouldn't even be out there normally but he wanted to get a jump on getting in shape to go play with his national team.

Damn that was an impressive move, even more impressive that he did it against Wiggins.

Judging from DMo's postgame interview and this Feigen article, it looks like he is gunning for the backup 5 spot.

    -----------------

As for Nick Johnson, guys I'm on the bandwagon! I believe the kid has some special talent + great work ethic. I would love to see him coming off the bench, but I just don't see it happening (yet) with McHale's beliefs and Troy Daniels eating up the backup 2 minutes.

Of course anything is possible and I'd love to be proven wrong

Houston is now willing to include Isaiah Canaan in a trade for Kevin Love.

There is a huge hole at backup SF and Covington has looked like complete garbage.

If we could get Caanon to play with this type of energy and confidence against the big fellas, our bench problems will be solved.

I also see DMo and Johnson making on bench stronger this season.

Great game today by Caanon, Johnson and DMo.

What does Nick Johnson have to do to get past Daniels in your mind?

I reckon we massively over-rate Daniels around here because of one shot. Daniels is a horrid defender who capped out as a 40.3% 3point shooter in college, and hit 39.7% for the Vipers (although threw up a crapton of shots).
Johnson is a tough little defender, who capped out as a 39.3% 3point shooter in college. He scored 16 per game in college, compared to Daniels 12, and can score in a variety of ways (as shown in the summer league); can create for others; and did I mention plays defence?

Daniels is the minimum contract end of bench kind of guy who you send out there to stand in the corner to provide extra spacing for 5-6 possessions in a couple of games each year.

I have a good feeling Nick Johnson will be playing with the big boys this season.
