No we don't. Not if Bledsoe is an option. Elite D, athletic, developing a really nice offensive game. He'd be a perfect fit next to Harden. Perfect.
Yup. I would much rather have Bledsoe if I wasn't scared about his knee injury. Either way I think I'd rather have Bledsoe.
Not only that. He didn't sound like he was just passing on some hearsay. He sounded more like it was a done deal. That is what pisses me off. We've been fed enough BS info this off season.
you're assuming that he won't be able to make a move to provide an additional proven role player along with some of his hedge bets. I'm not there with you. He's holding out the MLE and the Trade Exception for a reason. He's only been dangling the BAE for a reason. His comments in the aftermath was about the team being better by next playoffs. Not 2015 or 2016. I don't subscribe to the bs theory submitted by Feigen. I think he's being cautious but will take on a long term contract for the right player. Chandler Bing at the max was not that player. And he doesn't need to hit with several - only one or two. Sans Lin, our team is roughly equivalent to the start of last year except that Jones and his backup have more minutes under their belt and we won't start the season wondering who our starting PG and PF is. (barring a trade that upgrades one and diminishes the other) Add some scoring off the bench and the seasoning of H&H playing a year together and we are in good position today. Now add in a role player and the potential for a trade and we are improved. The sky didn't fall, it was just a leaf that grazed your head.
ok I was told the official line on the site is that it is Dragic all the way or risk the wrath and possible banning.
Dragic would walk in a year and want max. If we could lock Bledsoe up for a few years SnT then I'd rather do that. But I don't really see it happening.
<joke> Holy crap guys! treeman knows something, but he is not telling us because all the rest of you are such jerks! </joke >
If we get Dragic or Bledsoe thie year, we can start forming a line to praise Morey. The line starts here
My guess is Morey is going to see who has taken a step forward in Summer League before making a move. It appears DMo is playing at a much more relaxed pace, and Canaan/Convington are doing everything except shooting well. It looks like Johnson can probably help us, though he may still spend some time down in the D-League. I think Morey fills one of our PG/PF slots before the season starts. Since we aren't doing it through free agency, there's not much of a rush at this point.
I hope you're right. And FWIW I won;t consider you a troll if it doesn't pan out - you've been here since the beginning. But others might. There's a witch hunt going on now for "insider" trolls... Seems we're getting a lot of them, and people here are a bit twitchy considering how the offseason has gone.
Question: If we acquire Goran Dragic this off-season (and his bird-rights), when he's an Unrestricted Free Agent this off-season will we be allowed to go out and sign perhaps a third star (Kevin Love) or a high quality role player with our remaining cap space, and then resign Goran by going over the cap? Or did it only work with Chandler Parsons because we had the right to match his contract? If we can go over to resign Goran after acquiring another star, it makes perfect sense to pursue him over Bledsoe.
We would be beyond ecstatic if Dragic was coming. Dude not only is a pg, but a baller as well. As someone alluded, he is the perfect guy to make things happen when we go on our scoring droughts. Truth be told, I have always been a big fan of Dragic. As a bb player, I think he brings more to the table than Parsons.
Phoenix is playing hardball because they know no other teams out there have max cap space left. They aren't stupid. There is no reason to overpay when the market says otherwise. only real suitors with money left to be players- -Milwaukee (13 mil left, can get to max if they move Ilyasova) -Atlanta (can get there but already paying Teague 8 mil next year) -Cleveland (Can get there but already paying Irving the Max) -Orlando (has the $, but just drafted Payton. Probably the most serious suitor though) -Charlotte (can get close, but have to make decision on Kemba Walker future) -Detroit - (can get some free cash before matching a Monroe deal, but already paying Jennings 8 per) -Philly - No. Dont see them going after a max free agent for another year. Then there is Houston... Houston could waive non-guarantees and get to roughly 12 million. However at that rate, Bledsoe is a bargain, and Phoenix matches. Phoenix matches anything honestly. Do you really see any of the above mentioned teams maxing out Bledsoe? Maybe Milwaukee, but does Bledsoe want to sign there, and can they move Ilyasova to make max cap space? Than why would Phoenix NOT low ball Bledsoe at this point? If your biggest threat is a team like Houston waiving non-guaranteed deals to get to 12 million than you make your offer to Bledsoe probably right around that range. I also think Phoenix secretly wouldn't mind Bledsoe coming to the table with a lucrative S&T offer from a team that doesn't have max space yet with good players coming back in the deal. Either way, they really have the upper hand right now due to the market. This is EXACTLY what Morey was probably hoping would happen with Parsons in restricted free agency.
