Just to reiterate what others have already said in this thread. THE CAVS ONLY HAVE A VET MIN TO OFFER HIM. Where is the leverage at??
If you had actually read the thread you would have seen that the Cavs can only offer the vet min. Try that next time.
You're right, leverage isn't the option here... But. Mike Miller took less money. Why would Ray Allen waste the last season of his career here? Morey has been filling the team with scrubs. If he stays at least two years, maybe, but I don't think Morey is going to offer him that.
you can think he's not coming here, but if Cavs can only offer vet min, then leverage has nothing to do with it at all. Makes 0 sense.
I don't see him coming here either and I don't really want him here. Let Troy Daniels get some run with the team
I don't think he's going to choose to come to Houston (if there is even an offer on the table. I have my doubts) but it won't be because he is leveraging us against Cleveland. They've offered him the vet minimum. He can go back to them and say "Houston has given me a full MLE deal! You better up your offer from the vet minimum to the vet minimum or else!" They'll respond by saying "Oh no! We want you to choose us! Here, we'll up our offer! Instead of the vet minimum we'll sign you for the vet minimum! How's that!?" To which Ray will respond "That's more like it!" and then tell the media he was offended by the Rockets approach in free agency. /clutchfans faints
Don't know why he would want to come here... But if he does, and still has anything left in the tank, he's exactly the kind of locker room presence and player that this team needs. Proven winner, competitor, and champion that also has an elite skill that this team could really use.
You have to be kidding right? Please say you are joking and it isn't just a reading comprehension fail on your part. IF he did come here, I can foresee: Ed Reed all over again.
Ray would be nice if we already had Bosh and were gearing to contend this season. Not this season. Not this season. Please no stupid deals for Ray.
Honestly this is what I think generated this story. Prior to being turned down by Bosh, the Rockets were talking to a ton of free agents and had probably reached out to Allen. I'm wondering if the interest isn't even there anymore but the Rockets name is lingering in a story.
I'm sure that's what Morey and Les were hoping for. Sign Bosh and Parsons and then a bunch of vets would want to come here for the league minimum to fill out the gutted bench. The problem is now no vets want to come here and the front office refuses to commit any serious money or long-term deal to anyone other than Ariza in order to maintain "flexibility".
