If he accepts, that leaves us with $3.1 million of the MLE and the $2.1 million BAE.

If we renounce the Lin trade exception yeah, but that tpe is a valuable asset for a future trade so I don't see it happening

Having cap space and a MLE is impossible I believe. We currently are above the cap with no cap space. We have unguaranteed contracts that we could cut to get under the cap and gain cap space but we are not going that route. We are signing players above league minimum, and using our exceptions.

This begs the question. Who were they trying to preserve the MLE for? A proven backup PG or C? Or even go after Mike Scott at PF because of the talent upgrade.

Would the Rockets really dip into the MLE for a $250k raise?

Man, wish he would take the BAE and preserve the MLE in case someone worth it becomes available to us.

Can't we give him 2 years $4.3m with BAE?

Yeah, screw him for not wanting to move to a different continent and play twice as many games a year for 1/3 of the money. What a douche!
We went with Casspi, Garcia and Brewer last year, so I wouldn't be too sure.

Anybody knows if Minny has shown any interest in Papanikolaou before?

Looks like he's going to Kostas more than we originally though.

I'm warming up to this guy. He's got size and a good outside shot. Could be what the team envisioned for Casspi.

Plus he's already got chemistry with Dorsey, so maybe they could bring what they had in Europe to our second unit. Going after both players is definitely an interesting move by Morey.

Wouldn't think so. They had an opportunity to draft Mirotic years ago, and instead sent his rights to Chicago. If they didn't have an interest in him then, its probably obvious they haven't had much interest in Euro prospects stashes.

However they just got Flip into his role this past year, and who knows. If you take what they are saying at face value, they want actual known players for Kevin Love. They wanted David Lee & Klay Thompson from GS. That kind of tells you right there that they want solid players back so they can still compete for the playoffs. Probably something like the Carmelo/NYK trade package.

If Papanikolaou comes over and looks like a score than sure, I could see him being an attractive asset down the line, but I would urge people into assuming he's a major trade asset at this point that nets us Kevin Love. I would actually caution that much of any of the assets the Rockets have are that attractive to the Wolves right now except the Pelles pick, and maybe Jones depending on what they think of him.

The issue with the Kevin Love situation is the whole Andrew Wiggins/Cle situation right now. They are having a staredown right now to see if they can get him from Cleveland, and Cleveland is trying to see if they can use leverage to steal Kevin Love without giving up Wiggins.

The Rockets are going to probably always going to be on the outside of a Kevin Love trade if the Cleveland/Wiggins/Minny/Love situation still looms.

Problem with Llull is that he has a 5 million € NBA opt-out clause.
