I think a few of us are on Crunchyroll. It is a good site. Think of it as Netflix for anime. Kissanime is also good free site with a huge archive of older shows. That do have a lot of ads though. What sorts of anime are you into? What have you watched in the past that you liked?
I haven't watched many to be honest. I liked death note, samurai champloo, and monster (though I didn't finish it because netflix removed it). Not too much more I've seen that I can remember haha. I'm not picky, though, and will watch almost anything as long as it's good. I was looking into attack on titan, hunter x hunter, and kuroko's basketball based on the recommendations here. Yea I asked for subscription, because I didn't want to deal with ads or low quality. I did see monster on the website, though, so I'll try to re-watch that there.
One Piece is definitely the best written shounen adventure story and manga, but its anime, with is low production values, terrible pacing due to the 1 chapter per episode policy, and recaps that routinely make up the 1st 5 minutes of each episode, is not on par with HunterxHunter's imo. The fact that HxH (2011) eschews a lot of shounen tropes and thus far its anime has been paced without regard for the fact that it may (will) catch up with its source material has made it the more enjoyable watch for me, while OP's manga remains the better read. I know you guys watching the latest from Shinichiro Watanabe, Zankyou no Terror. I have to say, the animation is GORGEOUS and after 1 episode I'm already finding the story very intriguing. Hell, I think I'm ready to forgive him after my disappointment in Space Dandy. Once again, this 2014 anime season is insanely strong.
What amazes me is how they can release 25+? new animes every season. Sucks having to go through all of them, but there are a lot of diamonds in the rough.
Well I read both mangas, comparing their written form is not even fair. At least not fair for HxH. I'm just happy that manga is out of hiatus. Each episode of HxH is good --- it's calculated fights, good story telling, and good background songs. In terms of animation, HxH is better than One Piece. But, I wouldn't call it better than One Piece. This is an opinion based question, so no point of arguing about it.
This exactly. I haven't read either Mangas so I can't comment on that. In terms of animation I'm always on and off on OP. Personal preference, but I stick to my statement. It's tough, but I usually watch one or 2 episodes or else I'll drop, but I give everything a chance. Like I'm about to drop aldnoah zero watch HALF and episode because Iccan't find anything redeeming, got bored, and mecha have been a turn off for me recently I would highly recommend crunchyroll for a subscription. Kissanime.com is a great free alternative, great quality, adless (from my experience), mobile/console compatible. I would on this site 100% if it weren't for CR. I feel having that subscription is my way of supporting the industry even if the money I pay doesn't really go to them.
Didn't know much about Zankyou no Terror, but when I found out it was directed by Shinichiro Watanabe I knew it was going to be a must watch for me. Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are two of my fav animus. Watched the first episode and I'm definitely intrigued. Nice animation and interesting characters. Will definitely be keeping track and watching this one to completion. Wish it was going to be longer then just 11 episodes. Might be one I actually buy when it comes stateside, and I haven't bought physical anime in a loooong time
Crunchyroll is where I go right now. I was watching some on hulu (which now has quite a few of the new ones) but I can't get used to 6 commercial breaks in a 27 minute anime. I'd recommend it - they typically get the majority of the current anime that I want to watch so it's completely worth the 7 bucks per month. Netflix/hulu were my gateway, crunchyroll is my drug of choice Edit: I see you already signed up for the free trial, I need to learn to read all the new posts before commenting!

Thanks, always nice to have more positive feedback ------ I watched the first couple of episodes of hunter x hunter and really like it so far. I'll probably be sticking to that for the most part when it comes to the longer shows because it's a lot longer than anything I've watched before, but I also want to watch some of the other current anime. I'm glad they're only a couple of episodes in so I can keep up. A couple of them that stood out were Sword Art Online II and Akame ga Kill!. Are either of those worth watching and am I missing any? Thanks for any information.
You'll want to watch the 1st season of SAO if you haven't already. This 2nd season is starting off kind of interesting. I am also following Akame ga kill and I liked the first 2 episodes so far. Now that you are on Crunchyroll, I think we all have a lot more recommendations, but then you'd just end up watching anime non-stop, lol.
I really don't care for SAO as I feel it embodies a lot of the worst of anime. It's hardly the worst at that - see: Zero no Tsukaima and the To Aru Index series, but it's still bad. As for the one I recommend: Madoka Magica. I can't praise it highly enough - as far as I'm concerned, it's the best anime in the last 10 years, and only Monster comes even close.
YESSSS, a new anime and HxH breh! Congrats on joining the club! You want to get caught up on HxH, akame ga kill is good, log horizon, yowamushi pedal, chaika coffin princess (all new season coming up) Gurren Lagann, kill LA kill. On lunch break, I'll post more that I've enjoyed after work.
I'll second this recommendation, I watched it only because of word of mouth. It started out like the typically overly cutesy anime that i can't stand but the end of the 3rd episode was jarring, moreso than I've ever seen in an anime. Really becomes special after that. Not sure I loved the ending though.
Thanks. Just watched the first two episodes of Akame ga kill and I liked them as well. I'll probably hold off on season 1 for now and try to catch up on hxh. I'll check it out. I really liked monster (at least what I watched since they took it off Netflix) so it should be something I like. I'll try haha. 130+ is a lot to catch up on though
If you're watching HxH on AnimeKiss, I would totally use the fast forward trick.... That's what I hate about some anime, how they draw things out if it uses source manga and it is still ongoing. The other thing is the churn, many shows have promising ideas that hook you to it but the ending (if it's ever completed) implodes on its own weight like Lost.
