Good question, stedd. I hope we somehow end up with one of Dragic or Bledsoe, as unlikely as that is to happen.
One thing to keep in mind, the Suns have significant commitments to 4 point guards: Dragic ($7.5 this year. Player option next, and he will almost certainly choose to be a free agent) Bledsoe (likely a max deal) Isaiah Thomas (just signed him) Tyler Ennis (one of their 1st round picks) Surely one of them is on the way out.
96 minutes to be divided in the backcourt. I get what they're doing, play each of them 32 minutes a piece which is what Bledsoe averaged last year anyway. Thomas @ 8m/year is damn good value and thats an easily tradable contract if they ever made a move. The bigger question is where does this leave Ennis, he will get barely any run? There probably is a trade with the Suns that we've yet to see. Maybe a S&T with the Pistons, Ennis/Len for Monroe? Bledsoe/IT Dragic/Goodwin PJ Tucker/Gerald Green Markieff/Marcus Monroe/Plumlee Thats a nice team
I think better than Parsons is even an understatement. To me, he's meaningfully better, because he can defend a bit. He's just injured every other year. Still, it absolutely boggles the mind that he hasn't been signed when Hayward/Parsons are getting max deals....
Bledose is injured a lot and has a small sample size of healthy successful games. Lots of people think he's a ticking time bomb.
Even Dallas would admit that. But Parsons is long and plays a position devoid of depth. PHX cant even find room for its 3 PG's. Talent pool is deep at PG. It's like Mario Williams making more than Patrick Willis.
I think the suns are trying to keep as much cap space open as possible, for FA signings and potential trades. Bledsoe cap hold is currently only about 6 mil, so by not signing him right away they maintain some flexibility. As far as I know they haven't sign Tucker yet either, even though they already agreed on an extension, from the same reasons.
Suns actually have more chips to throw for a K-Love deal than anyone else. Don't forget they have that Laker 1st rounder next season plus Minny's own future 1st round pick. Markieff, Gerald Green, Ennis and a couple picks is a very good haul for Love (maybe too much even).
I'd be down for a s&t, really hope Morey has one big move up his sleeve left. Whether it be Love, Rondo, Bledsoe, Milsap or somebody, I doubt it though.
I just don't see what the Rockets could offer for Bledsoe that the Suns would even want. They're trying to get better, and have too many young, unproven pieces as it is.
Stacking assets. If suns don't want Bledsoe for maximum because of injuries or because they like Dragic as their PG better etc. They can trade Bledsoe for either a fat TPE and picks or unguaranteed contracts, young players like Capela, Pap, Johnson, Jones, Motiejunas and picks. Then they can take those assets, along with their own assets, combine them and trade for a star player like love. Say we trade then the Pelicans pick, our 2017 first, Capela and Jones + unguaranteed contracts for Bledsoe They can then trade - Timberwolves, Pelicans, Lakers and Suns 2015 first round picks , Rockets and Suns 2017 first round picks, Markieff Morris, Marcus Morris, Jones, Warren, Goodwin, Ennis, Len, Capela all in one package AND take back bad contracts with their cap space. That is the most insane package, almost enough to add 2 stars.
Yeah, that would be my guess too. Use up all of the cap space and then exceed the cap to sign Bledsoe.
How much money could we throw at him? I'm not great at cap number stuff, but it just seems weird that Phoenix has loaded up at guard with Dragic, Thomas, drafting Ennis, and some others. I'd see what we could do, especially since he's not seeming to get a lot of interest.
