I know Phoenix holds all of the cards because he's a restricted free agent but what's the hold up? Are they going to wait for the market to dictate his value? Or are they hoping no one bites and try to sign him to a cheaper contract?
In all honesty I hope they max him out so Dragic can opt out next summer and we can bring the prodigal son home.
I know the odds are about 10,000 to 1, but I'd be so stoked if we could somehow nab him from PHX in a S&T. It would ALMOST make me forget about the Bosh debacle. Almost.
He has been meeting with the Miami Heat last I checked. I am pretty sure that he wants close to a max contract. http://fansided.com/2014/07/15/nba-...seen-dining-pat-riley-erik-spoelstra/#!bfzxTV
he's in a terrible position now leverage-wise. Phoenix has not one, but two potential starting point guards behind him, and the number of teams with cap space to offer him a monster deal is dwindling. The problem is, you look around the league and ask yourself, how many teams are in the market for a point guard? There are a lot of good ones, maybe most stacked position in NBA right now. That, combined with the fact he is RFA, makes market for Bledsoe small.
This I'm not sure what the Suns are trying to do. They tried the Bledsoe/Dragic SG/PG combo for the last part of the year and it seemed ok. Thomas comes off the bench?
He's in a bad position because there isn't a team that is so crazy about him they want to max him out with a crazy structure like the Mavs did with Parsons. If you aren't going to do that then the Suns will match so why bother.
Bosh $23.6 Wade $15 McBob $6.5 Granger $2 Cole $2 LeBron's son $1 $50.1 total so far I think they can give him $10 mil a year considering they need to re-sign Birdman and Haslem
Even though I'm not a giant fan of Thomas I can't really see him coming off the bench after last season. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
