The only thing I wouldn't like about Ilyasova is it costing us the TPE and assets to where we have no way to improve at the deadline if something comes along. That is a downside to having a bunch of low salaried players and 2 stars. You don't have a lot of salary to cobble together to make a trade if one presents itself. Hate to lose that TPE.

I haven't really worked through the math and am lazy right now. Can we get this guy without using the TPE without going under the cap to do so which costs us the TPE and MLE?

 

Ilyasova shoots 40% from the floor...averaged 11pts 6rbs per game last year in 27 minutes per game...averaged .1 blocks....

Last year was an injury plagued fluke is what you are buying into if you want to acquire him.

 

I think his numbers dropped from previous years simple because he was unmotivated to play for such a bad team. Same thing with Loul Deng in his short stint with the Cavs. People underplay that a lot

If he could shoot the 3 at a 40% clip again he's be a perfect fit at the 4

 

I'd be shocked if he was a target based on Morey's recent comments. His contract runs through 2017, I believe.

 

He's only guaranteed 400k for that final year

 

Actually, his contract is next-to-perfect for Morey's needs. The last year of Ilyasova's contract has a very small guarantee (I'll take basketballholic's word for it on this one; in a post just up the page he stated $400,000, and I think that's right).

That 400K probably (fingers crossed) wouldn't be the difference between Yes Kevin Durant and No Kevin Durant. Which is obviously the New Plan.

 

No way I'd be going after him unless he was cut...which he won't be.

 

We have enough non-guaranteed salary to combine with Asik to acquire both Ariza and Ilyasova without touching the Lin TPE.

 

So basically once the Aria deal is finalized the answer is no. So if we want someone like this AND we want to keep the TPE it has to be folded into the Ariza deal today before that becomes official. So unlikely to happen.

 

Is there actually a better player that the TPE can get us than Ilyasova? Keep in mind, he'd become a near expiring at the end of next year and by being an actual player, can go up to 50% on a trade.

 

I'm unsure of your maths here, as you can't include Gee as going out in that deal, since he's not our player as part of the larger trade, we'd need to find another 1.7m on top of what we're sending out as their salaries combine for 16.1 ands Asik + Casspi = ~9.4, but since Gee is coming in, that pops it up to 19.something, and even if he went to Milwaukee, he'd still not be our "outgoing".

 

True in one sense....not true in another. Both Ariza and Ilyasova a superior shooters to Parsons and TJones, but both Parsons and TJones are superior penetrators.

We've got to find another guard that can attack the lane and create for others.

He had an ankle sprain in the preseason that never healed, a thumb injury and a hamstring injury. The ankle nagged all season long and led to a foot problem. He eventually was shut down due the ankle issue.
