Would definitely take Illyasova and a Milwaukee second rounder for the TPE. Immediate upgrade at the 4 spot. His value will definitely go up and I'm sure that, if need be, we could dump his final season next summer for the price of a couple of 2nd rounders (of which we have 3 before even making this trade). I think he'd be deadly on offense with Dwight and Harden. Average rebounder. No idea what his defense is like, but unlikely that anyone is worse than T Jones on that side of the ball.

It cost us a first round pick (in the mid 20's most likely) to dump Lin's contract. Ilyasova is owed more money and takes up more years on the cap. So....he should be worth at least a first rounder and when you throw in Jones...it should be a pretty decent first rounder as well. Now...if the Bucks want to dump Ilyasova without a first rounder, perhaps 2 second rounders and taking Jones out of the deal would work. Since Milwaukee is probably going to be pretty bad we'll take their second rounders in 2015 and 2016 and remove Jones from the deal and just make it Asik (to NO), Casspi (to NO), and Powell (to Milwaukee or NO). Alonzo Gee and Scotty Hopson could be re-directed to Milwaukee (non-guaranteed) with the Rox taking back any minimum salary non-guaranteed deals if necessary.

The form is there. Ilyasova dogged it (attitude) because he wants out of Milwaukee big time. Doesn't say much for his character but that's what you get with a lot of middle class NBA ballers. But make no mistake dude can shoot the ball and he can rebound the ball. I'm convinced if he were playing for a playoff team he would dial it in again and become an asset. He's the best turnaround candidate on the market and we should be able to get at least a non-lottery first rounder or at least 2 top of the second round draft picks for taking on his salary. And it makes sense. Worst case scenario would be he sucks....and guess what? He could be stretched after this season over 5 seasons costing around $1.65 million against the cap for those 5 years. Ilyasova is a great buy low candidate.
No way you give up Jones to get this guy. We all might be a little sensitive to the word asset but Jones is the best trade chip the Rockets have currently. I can't see the Rockets trading him unless it is adding a piece that would be guaranteed to start.
Whomever left this comment in my reputation feed: doesn't understand the trade I proposed and the value of picking up a first rounder with Ilyasova. If he doesn't perform he can always be moved out with that first rounder. After this year he'll be owed $8.3 million. Philly or somebody else will gladly swallow down that contract for a first rounder OR stretched.

Ilyasova is NOT an average rebounder when he chooses to play ball and not jack around. Go look at REB%. As far as his defense...it mirrors the rest of his attitude. His D was atrocious last season as was his shooting and his rebounding. He is not and cannot be an elite PF defender. But when Ilyasova WANTS TO PLAY BALL he's a very competitive, pesky defender. More than adequate. Listen...I'm not trying to paint this guy as pie in the sky. I just know he has the skillset we're looking for when he actually decides he wants to play. He's basically got this season and next season to earn one more contract. Put him on a playoff/championship contender and you have all the ingredients for getting this guy to nut up and play hard. And when he plays hard...he turns into a bargain contract.
Im not the biggest Jones fan, but the more and more he gets sh#$ on in the GARM makes me want to hope he's a Rocket for life just to piss off certain people. I guess I have a soft spot for those who are unfairly chastised. Jones is a good player with a ton of potential to get better. He's not going to another team in a salary dump trade.
and Del3no is another perfect candidate to add back to this team and possibly be an asset to flip to Minnesota for Love. He fits here. He fits in Minny. And Milwaukee would PROBABLY be happy to dump the $3 million he is owed as well. We have the salary to make that happen as well without touching the Lin TPE.
Jones has the potential to be a solid NBA player but he was the worst defender in the Rockets rotation and lacked consistency. I would not mind letting him come off the bench and see how much he continues to improve, but right now he is a festering sore in the Rockets starting 5.
He does certainly potential, but needs to make a massive jump in defensive awareness to be an even adequate player. He was a disaster defensively, worst on the team aside from Harden.
You may not be the biggest Jones fan but you are in the 99th percentile of Jones fans. You touted him all season last year...hyping him over and over. Funny thing was when he got stomped around against Portland like I predicted he would....you went silent. Now you're back at it again. Jones hasn't been unfairly chastised. When he played well he was lauded. When he played poorly he was ripped up. And the bottom line is....he shouldn't have been on the court for us during the playoffs. He hurt the team by getting trampled under by LaMarcus and Robin. Now......I have chosen to largely remain silent about Jones. I'm even giving him his J back. Simply for the sake of the team and being hopeful that we can extract value for him. But let me be very clear on Jones. If he does not come to training camp with a jump shot that works, that is mechanically sound, and that will help him shoot 36% or better from 3...then his value to this team both on the court and in trades will go to nothing real quick. And the odds of him having turned his jump shot into an asset at this point in his career are very low. OF COURSE I hope I'm wrong. Again. I hope I'm wrong. I would like nothing better than for Jones to come to camp a much-improved confident baller who will go out there and fire up (without hesitation) that 3-ball shot and knock it down at a decently consistent rate. But do I think that's going to happen? Nope. Just like I doubted he'd maintain his early 40% 3-point shooting that he shot for the first month of the season last year...I doubt he comes back with a positively developed jump shot this fall. And that is the basis of why I am looking for trades including Jones that yield back value for him....while he still MAY have value. Hopefully some other team is extremely high on him. Because the odds overwhelmingly favor me in thinking he will become a pedestrian to a bust NBA player as opposed to an above average player in the NBA.
Not only was Ilayasova hurt last season, but the Bucks franchise was a disaster last season. If you'll recall they had the worst record in the league. A team like that would look to unload players they don't think fit, and with his minutes (26mpg) and the addition of Henson, there's no doubt MIL would give us a pick to unload his contract. If we can get BK out of the deal for Jones as well, that would be icing on the cake. Knight Harden Ariza Ilayasova Dwight That team would compete.
I think the best role for him now would be sort of that hybrid forward coming off the bench. He was at his best last year when he had match ups where he could use his athleticism & speed around less athletic bigs. Coming off the bench would be great. Howard and Bosh starting would have been great to have him come off the bench and give the other team completely different looks. Could have been a huge weapon. The guy is only a 2nd year player that came in as a high-upside pick. He shouldn't be expected to not have any deficiencies at this point in his career. Expecting anything more is unfair.
