Feigen just tweeted we will sign him for next season. Anyone still doubt cyberx as an insider? Thanks for the info, cyber!
In all seriousness, is he supposed to be a center? I thought he was a PF/SF. A Lamar Odom type with zero offense.
I believe cyberx, but come on man! With our major moves falling through, signing Capela was pretty much a given. Dude was spotted hanging around Las Vegas SL.
There were reports that the rockets and Capela came to a stand-still. Plus the timing of cyber's scoop is pretty telling. Maybe he IS Feigen
An article came out yesterday (before this thread) that said Capella was still determined to come here. It got discussed before Cyber even made the original post. (That doesn't mean he didn't legit hear this from a source)
I dont see that comparison at all. Standing reach is longer than most NBA centers. Is a legit 6'10" as well. Very little skill apart from defensive prowess and dunking on offense THAT WE HAVE SEEN. In the scouting reports, he typically just dunks on everyone and has ridiculous blocks out of nowhere. I dont know that he's ever had to utilize much skill at the previous level so its hard to judge. Probably going to be a 4 in the NBA, and maybe a 5 later on. In the Rockets offense, he should be able to do what Jones did last year in rolling to the rim, shooting the gaps, and on defense he's going to disrupt alot of shots. Even in clips you can see that the guy seems to know exactly where to be in offensive sets similar to what the Rockets run. However he's super skinny right now. We are just going to have to wait to see him in action to see if he's skinny strong or if he's just skinny. Worst case scenario he's Jeremy Evans 2.0. Best case scenario he's the next Giannis "Greek Freak" and has surprising skills that nobody saw in the little bit of scouting that was done the past couple years.
OK. I didn't really look in to him at all before we the draft and just read a few things here and there after the draft - I thought he'd either be overseas for a while or we'd trade him, so I didn't put in the time to learn his game. Not sure if I read the Odom comparison or if I made it up after reading a bit about him and seeing that he weighs 90 lbs and therefore not a paint player.
They really need to bring this guy along the right way. Being young is one thing, being young and from another country is another. Hopefully they'll have someone (even if it is Nick Johnson) holding his hand, so to speak, when he gets assigned to the RGV. I mean, remembering my year living in Harlingen (God saved me from a second year), I'm picturing Capela trying to order something at La Palenque. But I am excited that the learning curve starts now. I think in two years he'll really start showing signs of talent. And hopefully we'll have that third star so Morey doesn't trade him away to GET that third star. Come to think of it, if Capela shows any signs of talent at all, he'll be gone quicker than you can say, "God****it, Morey..."
I don't see why everyone was so bonerrific over Bismark Biyombo but aren't excited about Capella. This guy could easily be a defensive demon.
