I was all in after the first episode, but that second episode was incredibly uneventful for me. If the next episode is anything like that one, I'm done.

What a cop out... they didn't back themselves into a corner.... they bit off more than they could chew trying to make it interesting, strung everyone along, and didn't deliver the details on a plethora of ideas that they deliberately introduced as clues along the way.... making half the fun of the speculation throughout a complete waste of time.

They COULD have at least made it make sense, but they didn't even find time for that.

If they think people shouldn't be interested in figuring out what's going on in a show with this much mystery, then maybe he's right, we shouldn't watch it.

I'm giving it a little more time, but the Lost stink is getting strong with this one already, and I don't want to get to the end with nothing to show for it but some characters that are the way they are because of reasons they allude to constantly but never explain.

    hashtag polarbeargatory.

The whole thing with the metaphorical "disappearing bagel that's still there", and the fact that crazy daddy's invisible people seem contiguous with the Chief's disappearing dog killer tells me that they are not going to leave the cause of the disappearance off the table and just deal with the aftermath of events on the people's lives.

They are hinting at "why " and "how" around the margins pretty heavily right out of the gate. If they don't provide an answer at some point, then they are just going to hit you over the head with the mystery of it non stop, like Lost did with the hatch.

The writers are doing everything possible to prompt you to keep thinking about the reason for the disappearance.

The show will be all about why it happened, not how it affects the people left behind.

Christopher Eccleston is a hellva actor, this episodes seemed more focused even if we didn't learn much about anything.

I've come to terms with the fact that I'll probably get very little in the way of answers. I like the actors and some of the characters, main reason I'm going to keep watching.

I wonder if the lady looked after his wife for the 3 days he was in the hospital.

global event, 2% of world's population unexplainably vanish.

focus on one town, 3 years later, where weird **** goes down

some animals act crazy and a group of chain smokers take a vow of silent protest.

there is a cop with a daughter. his son is in the picture. his wife is one of the crazies.

I didn't even think about that... But at the very least, he'll have enough money to finally pay her if she did.

I don't mind some ambiguity in terms of what happened in terms of 'the event', what I will not be able to tolerate is if they bring clues and questions to every episode that portend to be headed towards a coherent story... thereby forcing speculation, only to see it all dissipate like a fart in the wind with no closure whatsoever on the several fronts they introduced.

Who would have liked True Detective if they had never had any closure whatsoever, after introducing like 5 other possible explanations for what had been going on? The resolutions and closure weren't the best part of the show, but it would have been far worse without it.

The potential for this type of disaster is there, but I will say I did like this past episode a lot better than the one before it, and have more hope after seeing it. I don't want or need everything spelled out along the way, but if all we do is get to know characters and later find the story was irrelevant... I will feel robbed. Hopefully it will be more coherent than that.
