Listening now. Morey is clearly disappointed how it all played out as are most of us. I have to say, I really believe that not matching Parsons was the right move. This team would just not be flexible enough to be improved with that Chandler contract. I also believe that now he's more determined than ever to be aggressive and field a better team. Hoping they ask Morey on possibly bringing over one or both of Pap and llull.
Honestly it's all on Harden now. If he makes a huge effort to become a true two way player, he will gain respect around the league. That is the only way we can attract another elite player. I hope Howard will put everything out on the floor as well.
A few points: 1. The caller (Jerrell, I think?) that called before Dave was on just eviscerated Morey. I'm a big Morey fan, and that caller had me rethinking my position. 2. The 790 guys are pitching soft lobs to Morey. 3. Even Morey doesn't sound like he's convinced by his own bullspit anymore.
Morey confirmed exactly what I believe was the biggest issue...his damn contract...it was a Dan Fegan special... Parsons made it clear, if the Rockets are gonna sign, I do not want to be traded in the future. Fegan made that contract impossible to trade. Good luck Mavs...yall are f'd in any future deals for the next 3 years
"We have the ability to make the trades that got us James Harden" "By the playoffs, we will be a better team than we were at last years playoffs"
It got us two of the best players in the NBA in the last two years. Seriously you people are whiny little baby's. Get your heads out. I guess you would rather ha a GM that never takes chances. Morey has made this team legit. If you can't see that then you are blind
"The reality is, to win a title, you have to be the team who finds Chandler Parsons... not the team that pays Chandler Parsons a max contract..."
Morey caught himself midsentence. He talked about going after another star and then rephrased it. The guy still doesn't get it. He's still star-chasing despite having it blow up in his face.
"In order to win championships, you need to be the team that finds the Chander Parsons, not the one that gives them max contracts."
