Those left elbow 3s by Ariza are encouraging.

So you are positive Ariza is gonna shoot like he did last year?

If so this will be one of the best deals in the NBA, but....

Ariza's defense will more than make up for his slightly lesser offense than Parsons, though playing in a faster paced offense will probably bump his numbers up a little. Just still hurts to lose Parsons for nothing, but Ariza should match his production.

Ariza is a marginally better three point shooter.
    Chandler is marginally better inside.

Wow, didn't realize how close the stats were between those two. Basically carbon copies.

We could've had both Ariza and Parsons if we didn't stupidly decline CP's team option.

Ariza's a better shooter and defender last year, Parsons played more minutes so that accounts for a point or two that he has over Ariza. Considering the price and Morey's ability to discover new talent looks like we made out pretty good.

The numbers don't lie. Ariza fits our style of play.

Do some of you feel a bit better now?

The only thing Parsons is for sure better at is dribbling. Which actually means a lot. Parsons can create very well. I've mentioned it before but he's pretty much a better penetrating Hedo Turkoglu from 09.

In contrast, Ariza is much better defensively. Something that is sorely needed next to Harden.

I don't think this will hurt us as much as many are thinking. I mean I don't actually like it too much, because I hated Ariza in his first tenure here. But as a role player this team, I have faith.

don't think Morey would have gone after TA if we picked up Parson's team option.

Great post crossover. I like cp a lot,but the rockets can get 90% of parsons production for half the cost.

Are you positive that Chandler Parsons will shoot the way he did last year or anyone for that matter??

Shooting charts do not tell the entire story, Ariza was so bad here that Morey had to get him out ASAP.

It is a downgrade - no doubt.

90% of the offensive production and double the defensive production.

Marginal downgrade on offense. Massive upgrade on defense. All at a fraction of the price. Overall good move.

He's not Hedo from 09. He can't handle the ball and distribute as well as prime Hedo could. If Chandler Parsons is running your offense you are in trouble.

I hope Ariza shuts parsons down when we play them.

Thanks for the perspective. Looks like the Rockets have clear ideas about how much they are willing to pay for particular system fits.

If they have to blow their flexibility and assets on a position, it will be the 4 spot. I could see them pursuing a 1, but it has to be the 4 they are concerned with.

    Awesome find.

The more I calm down from the emotions of losing Bosh and Parsons, the more I realize that re-signing Parsons at that rate is akin to the TERRIBLE resignings the Rockets (and CD, specifically) regularly did--Moochie Norris, Mo Taylor, Matt Maloney, etc.

I appreciate that Morey recognized that Parsons isn't that special, and thus, didn't pay him like someone special.
