Am I seriously the only one that watched Terrence Jones play last year in essentially his rookie season. He's perfect next to Dwight. Is 17/9 with improved an improved FT% really too much to expect? Damn this team is BETTER than the 08-09 Rockets. We still have 2 of the top 10 players in the league. And cap space.

Follow the San Antonio model. Build a GD DEEP bench. Nothing matters if Harden does his disappearing act again anyway.

Well, in my opinion, most of us are mad that morey says we aren't a championship caliber team and he has given up on this season. Most of us are mad because we are tired of hearing that morey is going to build a contender. Most of are mad because we got worse not better this offseason. I hope that answers the question

Having thought about this some more, I still disagree with how the team handled this offseason so far, and I feel less confident in the judgment of the management.

That said, things are perhaps not so dire. Ariza isn't bad. And the team has some resources to chase these "short term" options via trade or free agency.

I'd think that the team should first look to trade for guys. Any decent free agent is going to prefer a multi-deal-- and we missed out on a couple that agreed to contracts with 1 year guarantees already, Jordan Hill and Chris Kaman.

Maybe the cap room (or TPE) plus Jones/NOP pick/DMo/foreign assets, etc. can net a pretty good player? Millap, Dragic? Maybe a less pricey guy to trade for who can fill a need? Chuck Hayes?

Perhaps overpay a free agent on a 1 year guaranteed deal (with non-guaranteed 2nd year)?

Yeah, but on the bright side, we can all now get those Parsons jerseys for cheap!

Man, I'm so pissed about the way this all went down.

And then to say the team wasn't championship caliber as a reason to let parsons walk for nothing, yet milk hair gets another year to lead us to another late season collapse followed by another first round exit is just insulting to the fans. I don't know in what universe making your team worse while making a division rival better is the pathway to a championship, but it sure as he'll isn't this one.

I sure hope they have a better plan than "let's try again next summer to land a 3rd superstar", as we just witnessed how bad that can turn out.

Home run. You can't build your plan around the inclinations of pampered athletes. You have to have leverage, like the Kicks had with Marshmallow and the Heat had with Bosh. Expecting other players to pull a Dwight simply isn't practical. Parsons wasn't matched because the Rockets didn't think he was worth the money, but who's worth the money that that they have a realistic chance of signing in 2015 or 2016? By then LA will be rid of Kobe and they will be the next super friends' destination. I don't blame Morey, because Les probably stepped in and put his foot down. Ultimately, irregardless, it's always on the owner anyway.

It's difficult to logically disagree with the plan that ended up an inch away from a Beverley/Harden/Parsons/Bosh/Dwight starting lineup, but on the other hand it's also hard to anticipate future big picture plans after this failure.

I don't think it is about being cheap. It's about the philosophy that you have to have THREE STARS to win a championship. Either that, or they don't believe the Howard-Harden tandem is really elite enough to win big.

The comment about Howard-Harden-Parsons not a championship team is very telling. Why can't we shore up the other position around the H-H-P core, not with stars but with better role players?

This about Les being cheap, period.

I've never said that before, all the years we kept a certain payroll I defended him, but not this year. There was very little practical reason to let him walk for nothing.

Wait til next year, keep kicking the can and waiting for the 3rd star that we don't need and won't come anyhow. God I'm so pissed off right now. A prime Howard/Harden year and we keep McHale and have a worse roster.

Speaking of Milk Hair, wasn't the justification for bringing him back because Morey and Les believed this Rockets team needed another year together? Yet now we're being told that Howard/Harden/Parsons is not good enough to contend? Sounds to me like damage control. I don't believe for one second that Morey and Les actually feel that way. They just didn't want to pay 15 mil a year for Parsons and this is their way of saving face.

Count, they've been full of crap from the start. Is it even remotely logical to get a band of stars together and lead them into battle with the most incompetent buffoon in the NBA? The post season play should have removed any doubt.

I don't get it... Why does it have to be 3 stars? Remember that 09 team that took the Lakers to 7 games, that was 1 star and a bunch if solid role players. We had guys like Battier, Artest, Scola, Landry, Lowry, Brooks... That's what we need to do. Build around our two superstars. I really hope they abandon this big 3 idea.

to be fair the rockets hit on harden and howard in back to back years, so overall in the past few years its more positives than negatives
