When they say they will be targeting players with short-term contracts, I guess they mean D-league players they can bring in on non-guaranteed contracts or trading for players with only one year left on their current contracts. Any realistic options out there that fit the current needs of this team? We really need better depth at all positions and could probably upgrade starters at PG and PF.

So their entire philosophy on how to run a team changed over night?

I disagree with the decision not to match Parsons, but the rationale makes sense. Why spend money for a team that you believe will not win a championship, if it prevents you from being able to pay for a team you think CAN win a title?

Like I said, I disagree with their belief that we couldn't win a title with parsons as our 3rd option, but their actions match that belief. They don't suggest they are cheap...

Morey tried to put big names on the floor. Now that that failed instead of making the team better he talks of next year and signs some Casspi wanna bes as filler until the next big names come available to the open market. Not a way to get better IMO.

Seriously, I agree the Rockets need more depth, but all this pissing and moaning about missing out on "MORE STARS" is ridiculous. The Rockets will still have a very good starting lineup, and another year of playing time together under their belt. It is just the bench that needs some work. There is still time to bring in some more bench guys.

I liked Parsons, but I am not sure he is worth it at that price. For that much money, that essentially means Parsons would be the third cog of a "big 3", and I am not sure he will ever really be a superstar. We already saw what that trio could bring last year, and it was just a bit short. Parsons and Harden duplicate both strengths and weaknesses. I will be happy to see how Ariza can fit in as a defensive minded wingman. Ariza does not suck, he was just not great at being a first option on offense.

This is going to be a really dumb question that I probably should know the answer to but I'm not good with this cap stuff.

Lets say we want to pay a player 8 million for 2 years. Would it be possible to split that to where we paid 6 million this year while we have cap room, then had them on for 2 million next year? Could we do that sort of thing to secure depth for this season and next season, while keeping our cap room open for this next off-season?

I'm guessing no but I figured id ask anyway

Problem is this team has took steps back since Howard has joined and he's only been here a year. Morey lied to him.

Because in Moreys eyes, getting marginally better isn't worth costing us the opportunity to build a championship team. That's what he believed matching Parsons would do. I disagree, but nothing about this offseason suggests that Morey and Les are cheap.

Moneyball is all about cheap. Great for fielding a competitive team in a small market. Not that great for fielding a perineal championship team.

Dmo is still there and technically he's taller than Dwight.

Players make their own decisions the only fault of rockets management is being unappealing due to the excessive roster turnover year after year

So let me understand what all this crying is about.First off you Parsons lovers were ready to throw Asik and Lin overboard all last season and now you got your wish and we never going to win another game.Oh and your girlfriend jumped ship and some how you want to blame Les and Morey because they don't want to pay a non-superstar,Superstar money.Really!
