    1. Asik wanted to insure a big max contract next season thus seeking more playing time. It's unlikely he'll get that playing backup minutes next to D-12. Keeping him would not have been good for neither sides.

    2. I give Lin a lot of credit for his time here. He didn't live up to some people expectation but all that was overblown to begin with. If he continues to work hard, and develop his game I'm sure he'll do just fine anyway. The Lin move is a bit more complicated because of the unusual nature of his contract and the fact that his value as a player is truly in between his salary numbers. He's not a 15 million a year guy, but definitely not a give away talent neither.

    3. Parsons situation is just plain dumb. The whole thing could have been avoided had we just offer him an extension worth 5-7 million a year. I mean if we believe in his development we should lock him up long term. If not, just milk out his rookie contract and gamble on his FA.

    EXACTLY this!

You already have two players that are the best at their position.

You just canNOT win with that, eh?

    smh

Would much rather have rolled with the dudes from last season, adding in Daniels and Nick Johnson. Asik may have been traded anyway though, so perhaps they could have gotten Ariza to sign anyway.

He's definitely opting out to re-sign a max deal for more money!!! And I could see Morey saying "ehh we're not ready to win now anyway" and let him walk!

    Seriously?

George Hill was an asset when the Spurs traded him. Stephen Jackson was an asset when the Spurs cut him right before the playoffs. I could go on, but I won't bother. This myth that the Spurs bring players in and then never deal them away is wrong and stupid.

It's much easier to keep a big 3 and put solid role players around them once you HAVE a big 3. Plus, I'd had enough of Lin's silly turnovers and Asik's inability to sink a shot from two feet away. Glad to see both of them go. And in my mind, Parsons became a non-rocket the moment he posed for that nightclub picture.*

    *Nice necklace, Chandler.

As we've seen with all the other big fish this season, max money with their current teams speaks loudly to these guys. (with the exception of LBJ)

Will D12 leave 30 mil on the table again to chase a chip? Last time (LAL), he did not mesh with his teammates...I don't think thats the case here. Also, it will be his last chance to re-up on a fat deal. I think he stays.

While you make a good point, by the time he opts out, the only teammate still on the team that he started with may be Harden. But, money MAY win over since it could be his last big contract..depending on how high the salary cap is, how much he can get paid, and if there is a sure team that he can put over the hump for a championship year one..you know...like joining LEBRON!

Why are all the owners overpaying for these non-superstars? I thought this was exactly what the new CBA was designed to do--curb overpaying.

Not everybody is over paying. If you watched closely Mavs made some noise last year and all they needed was a tweak.

Dwight wants to win while the Rockets just want to be flexible for free agency. Of course I wouldn't be mad at him for leaving.

Not going to happen, as long as Dwight is willing to leave another 30M off the table.

Of course. Truth is most max free agents stay(Melo), even if their team isn't a contender.

No, I wouldn't. I would understand, he came here to win, not to make up the numbers.
